My daughter is doing a little reasearch on bats and she has a poll asking what you think of bats. Ah elementary school. It's always something!!!!!

After having a coven in my basement and them getting into the house I can say for sure they are scary.

They have a couple of sounds they make from a chirp to a screech and those hooks on the top of their wings and their pointy teeth----Lets just say it took a long time for me walk around my house at night using only the nightlights again while smoking a cigarette! Apparently I was mistaken for some glowing bug and the bat came at my face.

Out in the country we pretty much like 'em
coz they eat lots of skeeters

Can't say I'm a fan of them. I voted scary too.

I would have said scary, but now I think they're sort of cool after watching a show with Jeff Corwin. I still wouldn't want to pet one though. :teeth:

I've all ways been fascinated by bats. One of the first things we did when we bought this house was put a bat house up in the back yard. I't pretty cool to watch them come out in the evening. We've even been lucky enough to have babies!!

ScaryInteresting should be one of the choices - although they might be cool to learn about, I don't want to get up close and personal with one!!!

:)

The token goth chick weighing in here...

I  bats. I think they're adorable! I want one.

Unfortunately, I live in an apartment and I am not permitted to put up a bat house in the yard.

We fear that which we do not understand...of course, management still said no.

You forgot the RATS WITH WINGS category. :thumbsup2

If I could choose two options, I'd choose dangerous then, helpful (mosquito control). I voted dangerous since, several children have been bitten in our area recently. One teenager was bitten during his sleep (open window)and died a few days later.

Sleepyone, I hate to hear that. They are trying to teach the kids that they are not dangerous creatures. Since we live in the DFW metroplex, I was thinking that one weekend, we'd go to Austin and see them flying out for the night. Hearing about people getting bitten, will give me second thoughts!!!!!

We used to go camping at yellowstone lake state park, wisconsin. They have 36 bat houses. people would go a sit by the houses at dusk and watch the bats stream out. The would sometimes fly right by your head. At this campground you can sit outside after dark without getting bit. With west nile around us they should be encouraged. They only eat bugs... there not the vampire bats.
