I'm planning late Sept, 08.
If there is not free dining, then i plan on staying at Pop Century. If there is free dining, then i can afford the Wilderness Lodge. The free dining offer doesn't usually come out until April and i don't want to wait that long to book the trip.

If i book WL and free dining doesn't happen, can i just call up and switch resort to Pop? Pop won't all be booked by then, will it?

Or...........do I just go with Coronado because I can afford it with or without free dining?

Am i overthinking this WAYYYYYY too far in advance???

Thanks!!

Hmm, i don't understand the logic here. Whether there is or isn't free dining, why wouldn't you just stay at WL regardless? :confused3 Are you gonna absolutely do dining and therefore this is the reason between both hotel choices or is there something else? Just trying to understand so we can provide better info for you.

Planning is half the fun of the trip.:goodvibes

I wouldn't count on a promotional thing like free dining. Book what you can afford and if a rate comes out, then maybe you can upgrade. Remember, the standard rooms at the WL are not all that much more $ than Coronado. If you have AAA you can book WL, or any other resort for that matter, now with a discount I believe. :)

Agreed on not counting on free dining. Free dining was offered two straight years (2005 and 2006) during the weeks we can go in late September/early October. This year it is not, because WDW seems to be filled to capacity much more often these days. If I were to count on anything, it would be that free dining would be offered for an even shorter time frame next year, or maybe not at all.

Just go with what you can afford, using whatever means you can for discounts. AAA is a great idea. You can also use a Disney Visa, I think, to book a package and have so many months of interest-free financing, as well as a miniscule number of points you can redeem to buy souvenirs or something.

If free dining is offered later, or if you decide to just buy the dining plan, you can wait until within weeks of your trip to add it to your existing package ressie. We're going this October, and haven't purchased the dining plan yet, though we intend to use it this year. Seeing as how free dining is probably not going to be offered for our week, I'm not going to purchase the DDP until at least later this month or early September.

Even still, hold off on purchasing that. As I said earlier, you can add that later. That way, you can hold out and see if free dining is offered or just add it later. Either way, that money sits in your savings and accumulates interest for you rather than just going to WDW when it doesn't need to yet.
