I read that you can get ressies at certain restaurants (much like WDW), and then have priority seating for WOC, buy a picnic type meal and get priority seating. And, I also read that you can Fastpass WOC. Do you have to do one of those, or can you just walk in.

For those of you who have done the picnic style ressie, where exactly do you eat? Do they give you the food and you sit anywhere? Or is there designated seating?

Help me understand. WDW pro, DLR newbie!

First, read this thread if you haven't already: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2542717

If you get a reservation for the WOC Preferred Dining package at either Ariel's Grotto or Wine Country Trattoria, you will eat your meal and then get a ticket that allows you to stand in the preferred viewing area later for the show. You do not eat while you watch the show. During the show you will be standing, there is no seating for the show, everyone stands. If you reserve a WOC lunch at Wine Country Trattoria, you will get a fastpass for the BLUE viewing section, also standing. If you pre-purchase a picnic, you will receive a fastpass for the YELLOW viewing section. You can pick up your picnic anytime in the afternoon up to an hour before showtime. You can eat it wherever, whenever you like. Getting a picnic simply provides you with a meal and a fastpass for the show. If you would like to get either a BLUE, YELLOW, or RED fastpass for FREE, you just have to go to the FP machines by Grizzly River Rapids in the morning or afternoon the day of the show. The thread I linked to above explains how each color is distributed, but basically it's first come first serve until all of the tickets are distributed. No matter what section you have a ticket for, you must line up for the show 60-90 if you want the best spots in the front. You can show up later, but you'll be gambling that you might get stuck behind someone tall or with a child on their shoulders.

You do not HAVE to have a fastpass for the show. You can technically walk up and stand behind everybody or on the other side of the water, but you will not have the same experience as those that got the fastpasses, since you won't have access to the designated viewing area.

My Husband and I did the Ariel's Grotto Dinner package a few nights ago on our honeymoon and had a fantastic experience. It was less than what we usually spend at Blue Bayou, we got more food, it was surprisingly delicious, and we did the first show of WOC and were right up front. We showed up at 7:45 for the 8pm show. It was incredible and the perfect end to our last Park day of the trip. Definitely worth it for the two of us.
