Help me understand my points

I own 200 Poly points with Oct use year. I have 200 points for Year 2021 and 2022. I was planning to go this October and when I went to book it said I could book the room by borrowing from 2022 points. I thought this was weird so I went out to my dashboard to confirm that I did have 200 points in 2021.

So since I have Oct use year and going in October, I thought it might have been my problem. So I went to book a "fake" room in April and would let me book the room by borrowing 100 points from year 2021.

How can I book an October trip using my 2021 points? I am 80% sure we would go on this trip, but if I had to cancel what would be my point situation?

As you know, your 2021 points you receive on October 1, 2021, and are good for nights beginning October 1, 2021 thru September 30, 2022. So booking a trip starting on or after October 1, 2021 should be no problem. It may be a system glitch. You may need to call to book. It may be some sort of glitch tied to the current borrowing restriction and it is messing with the system.

Thanks for your quick reply. I was hoping it would be a system glitch. The trip was going to start on Oct 3.

another question, do I have to bank my Oct 2021 points in May if I don’t book a trip?

I think May 2022 is correct. The banking deadline should pop up on the dashboard page of the website once your 2021 use year begins. You are, of course, currently in your October 2020 use year. You can not bank your October 2021 points until October 1, 2021

Thanks, that is what I thought but then Doubted myself.

I was also thought 2021 points came in January regardless of use year. Banking my Oct 2021 points in May 2022 actually works out better for me

Definitely put away the calendar as your UY never ever starts in January.

Unless you were booking a stay that took more than 200 pts, you should not have needed to borrow from your 2022 UY to book a stay in your 2021 UY (and Oct 2021 would be within your 2021 UY). So a glitch makes sense.

Technically, your 2021 and 2022 (and 2023 pts and so on) are all already there and available to book - you are only limited by 1) the home resort booking window of 11 months and 2) you can only use banking or borrowing to move pts forward or back ONE UY. Once you move the pts into a new UY, they are stuck and cannot be moved again - and will expire if not used for a stay by the end of that new UY.

If that is the case, then yes, you would need to borrow October 2022 points for a trip in October 2021. Thankfully they are not borrowed but true 2021 points that appears I can use for my Oct 2021 trip. I just wanted to make sure before I called since it appears a glitch when I try to book on line.

I just got all confused on the points I had. We were lucky to travel Feb 2020 and burn leftover 2019 and all 2020 points. I guess I had borrowed all my 2020 points that I used in Feb 2020 (still in 2019 use year).

COVID happened and since I knew I wouldn’t be traveling anymore in 2020 I didn’t really pay attention to my points since I had just used them all. I am still in my 2020 use year but will actually travel when my 2021 use year starts.
