Specifically with verandah rooms. I know that 7A is a partially obstructed verandah (or at least I think so). And I know that 4 is a family verandah room. But, what's the difference between 5 and 6? We had a verandah GTY and were assigned to 5B. But, is that the exact same as 7A - just without the obstructed view?? Is there anything different in the actual room? Thanks!

Generally the difference is location. The "more preferred" is a higher number and letter (i.e. 4A vs 7B). Those will be higher decks and midship. Categories 5 and 6 are most likely a lower deck (not low like decks 1-2 but lower than 4As) and maybe forward/aft instead of midship.

Category 4 are Deluxe Family Staterooms which are slightly larger (in length -- approx. the width of a twin bed longer). Other than that, I believe the verandah staterooms in categories 5-7 are the same size and same amenities.

I have never fully understood the categories, but you can go to cruisedeckplans.com and find the cabins that interest you. If you are lucky, you may even be able to see pictures of your exact cabin. Just be careful of pop-up ads while navigating the site.

Category 6 cabins typically have a white wall verandah, while category 5 cabins typically have a clear plexiglass verandah.

Actually, location is really more designated by the letter designation. 6 B/A, 7A have obstructed verandahs (white walls). 5's and 4's, with the exception of aft 4E, have full-view plexiglass verandahs.

That website is my go to site for looking at deck plans and cabins. Love it.

This. They are usually aft.

On the Magic/Wonder, Cat 7A are Navigator Verandah. It is fully enclosed except an open porthole.
