So if I could get a FL Gold Pass could I then activate it as a DVC pass later on? Seems like I could?

In addition right now for those with Gold Pass is there limits on what you can reserve? I have a total of 17 days/15 nights on two stays in December and January.

Dec 18, 2020, through Jan 2, 2021 are block out dates during which the Gold Pass (both Florida and DVC) cannot be used for entry to parks. Annually, you get about a two week blockout , both at Christmas time and Easter time, but otherwise there are no block-out dates.

Only Florida residents can get a Florida Gold Pass, so if you are not a Florida resident you cannot purchase it (and being a DVC member does not make one a Florida resident). The DVC Gold Pass is really the same (including same block out dates and same price) so I am not sure why, if you wanted a DVC Gold pass, you would not just buy one instead of getting a Florida gold pass first. Moreover, if you have the Florida gold pass there is no real reason to turn it into a DVC gold pass, except possibly at time of renewal which likely can be done.

Gold passes are not for sale at this time and might not be for the a while. I was trying to see if there was a possible option of doing this purchase. Our December stay is early in the month so no black out dates for when we travel.

I am not a Florida resident but didn't know if it was just labeled that more for marketing than anything and it didn't matter when you showed up to activate.

I think the rub is that the OP doesn't seem to actually be a FL resident. So, the question is if he can buy a ticket as a FL resident, then at activation, activate it as a DVC member.

Correct I am not trying to do something outright against the rules. I just didn't know if the Gold Pass was simply FL or DVC. It sounds like they are actually fully separate things though even though both are Gold Passes.

I don't think it's that easy (because they are separate categories of tickets for a reason) ,but I don't think he would lose his $$.

It would probably just take "forever and a day" when he went to activate his pass. The CM would have to cancel the FL voucher, somehow transfer the value to the purchase of a new GOLD pass, and then go through all the regular steps to activate the GOLD pass. (CM might have to refund the FL pass and then get a credit card for the purchase of the Gold and if so, it could take a billing cycle or two to get that money back). If the CM hasn't done this before or has a question (likely, as this isn't common), he/she might need to consult a Supervisor. The OP definitely would NOT be popular with all the other people in line at the guest services or ticket booth, LOL. No way would I try to buy a FL resident pass if I weren't a legitimate Florida resident. Not worth it!

This would probably be a good question for @Robo over on the Tickets subforum of the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies board.
