Help me think this through....many at one or few at many

We’re all thinking it, I’m just gonna say it. Best incentives to buy direct in a very long time. As someone who’s had FOMO since I sold my VGC points in 2011, let me tell you..it’s rough! I had no desire to add on direct but pulled the trigger and just did it. And honestly, I’ve never been happier with that decision! Shiny new points at Disney is simply the best! If you know you’re going to vacation to Disney yearly or more, honestly it’s a no brainer.

VGF WILL sell out by early next year, that’s almost a certainty. IF the Fall incentives are better, having a contract in place before 9/10 will give you the opportunity to pick the best deal. AND if you get cold feet, just rescind within the 10 day window. But, this is coming from an enabler…soooo 😂

These boards are very good at spending other people's money! I am more than half way to my personal point ceiling now, mainly based on what I am comfortable paying in MF every year.

I probably shouldn't even be considering adding on so soon, but at the moment Kirk is definitely winning over Spock! What I still struggle with is not more points yes or no, but distribution.

I'm curious, for those with more than one home resort, what your point distribution is between homes?

Are your points equally distributed between each home, or 90% at one and much less at others? If almost all at one, do you find yourself wishing you had a more equal point distribution? If spread out, do you miss not having a bigger pile at your favorite?

I like the idea of more home resorts and alternating. We’re at 200pts now. 300 is our ceiling (yeah haha) so we still have 100pts to buy down the road, Poly resale or Poly2 direct likely.

Of our 200pts, 50 BWV and 150 VGF. BW can be up to 7-10 days straight every other year. VGF is a week/yr.
Right now we can do a week every 8 months in a studio.

If we add 100pts Poly to the mix, that would give us 2 weeks every 3 years. The rotation would look something like:
Yr 1 - Week Poly + Week VGF
Yr 2 - Week BWV + Week VGF
Yr 3 - Week Poly + Week VGF
Or:
Yr 1 - Week Poly
Yr 1.5 - Week VGF
Yr 2 - Week BWV
Yr 2.75 - Week in 2BR
Yr 3.5 - Week Poly

I’m pretty certain we’ve all made this rotating schedule at one point LOL. But likewise, I like variety and not staying in the same hotel each time but I usually do splits because it mixes things up in the middle of the trip and I also get housekeeping essentially in the middle of my 7 day trips that I otherwise wouldn’t get

Yeah we don’t mind split stay either if the trip is at least 6 or 7 nights.

We really enjoy Poly and figure we’ll be using VGF there when possible. Most likely our final 100pt purchase will be either Poly or more BW. I still like the idea of 3 home resorts.

I go several times a year, so an opposite UY and different resort works for me. Obv, this wouldn't be ideal if you are trying to combine points.

I have 2 contracts, same uy and resort. Every point is available every time I book a trip. Very easy and convenient. 400 pts total and staying “ahead” with banking because I really want to go to Aulani.

We added direct points on our GF contract before the ink was even dry, so our guide was able to revamp our contract so we would get more of a discount.

The latest notice of imminent price increase is obviously a sign :)

I will plan to add on at VGF before the end of next week.

We have 2 main “go big” home resorts - RIV and AKL - that we use primarily for family trips in a 2BR or GV every other year. Then we have 3 smaller contracts - PVB, VGF, and CCV - that are mainly for just DH and I to use for studios (or 1BR at CCV). We bought all our contracts in 2021 - RIV direct and the rest resale.

We enjoy split stays and don’t regret having multiple home resorts. It can be challenging to manage the points to get 3-4 days on the smaller contracts at our home resorts. But, we don’t have to wait until the 7 month window to get our top choices.

I would love to have more RIV points because the family trips take the majority of our annual allocation and there aren’t many left over for DH and I. If you don’t like split stays, my recommendation would be to add on at your current resort. If you don't want to wait until the 7 month window to switch up resorts, then get a second home resort. You could bank points from each contract every other year for a “go big” trip.

I will get a bit more VGF, given the current and soon to be expiring bargain price and incentives.

Adding much smaller contracts via resale in the future will definitely be on the table, as I love CCV and I feel like I am going love RIV as well.

Our VGF contract is an AUG UY and 55pts doesn’t go far. I wanted to add on 150pts n July and take advantage of the Magical Beginnings discount. Then I could sell the 55 pointer. But DH reminded me that we needed to replace the rest of our windows. POINTS are FUN, windows are boring….
