Here's the scoop! We were a family of five going to DW June 8th-15th. Staying at Port Orleans Riverside in Alligator Bayou (for the trundle). I was all set and hoping for one of the newly refurbished rooms. Just found out today that my step-daughter will not be able to go :sad2: . To long of a story to explain why. Anyway, should I stay at Riverside or try to get to French Quarter now? Our other children are 4 and 6. Should we stay at Alligator Bayou or try for one of the mansions now? If so, which one? Any of the mansions been remodeled lately? Which would be closest to main pool, buiding, etc. I need help Dis'ers! Thanks in advance. :wave2:

You'll love the AB. Why change?
Don't forget to catch a performance by Bob "The Piano Man" Jackson in the River Roost Lounge!

I totally agree w/ MiJo.... stay in Alligator Bayou. Request building 14. If you do decide to stay in a mansion, Parterre Place would be my 1st choice for convenience to the main building!

Stick with what you have. POR is great. We've stayed in AB Buildings 14, 15, and 18 as well as in Parterre Place. We preferred the AB section, but mansions were fine. You may find that one of your kids will want to sleep on the trundle, so it will be nice to have that option.

My kids are 7 and 10 and we ADORE POR-AB, you can always go over to POFQ to visit their pool, or vice versa if you decide to switch, it's a 10 minute walk or a 20 minute boat ride.

Another one that loves POR. Last year we stayed at POFQ and while it was nice... we really preferred AB where we stayed this year. Next year we will be booking POR again and requesting AB. I believe we were in building 16 and loved it. If only the mods had queen beds I'd stay in them over a deluxe because my kids are the types that prefer the food court atmosphere. This is why we tend to stay at AKL for Mara and CR for the food and fun center.

Do be sure and stop in to see Bob Jackson one evening.

This might be a good place for me to ask... we are considering POR for a short 3-day June stay... haven't stayed there yet- we stayed at CBR about 11 years ago, (and the All-Stars more recently) and would like to go back to CBR, but I'm thinking of trying something new...

Seems to me that POR isn't very "resort-ish"... how are their pools/outdoor areas? How bout their restaurants? Feedback anyone???

Port Orleans/Riverside is one of my DH's favorites & we've stayed at the Poly, Wilderness Lodge, Pop Century, Port Orleans/French Quarter, Caribbean Beach... We've stayed in both Alligator Bend and in the Mansions sections. We liked AB very much, especially for the convenience to the food court/check-in area, but felt that the rooms were a bit dark for us. We like the Mansions more. In our opinion the PO/R sit-down restaurant is just "ok", some really like it, but we're not crazy about it. The PO/R food court is quite nice and the PO/FQ food court offers freshly-made beignets. Both the POR pool and the PO/FQ pool are great - you can use either as long as you're staying at any of the Port Orleans sections. And the PO/R arcade is one of the biggest on property. The grounds are gorgeous all over the entire Port Orleans resort complex. You can also catch a boat to DTD from any of the Port Orleans Sassagoula River boat-docks.

Enjoy...after all, YOU'RE GOIN' TO DISNEY WORLD :teeth: !
agnes!

POR is awesome and AB is my favorite area. Plus there are the small pools in the area that tend to be less crowded the the larger themed pool. So you may feel better with the little ones there.

Thanks- sorry, didn't mean to take over the thread- just thought that there were some knowledgeable people here :goodvibes . We have AP's, but are local, so don't usally stay... I want to surprise the kids for a few days R&R without the commute.

POR is probably the best suited for some R&R with it's old fashioned laid back southern charm. Another benefit is you can use the pools at both POR and POFQ since they are sister resorts. The breakfasts especially at the restaurant Boatwrights are OUT of this WORLD good. We love it there. Oh man I miss it now!
