We've been to WDW many many times but I return home feeling like I need a vacation from the vacation. To break things up, we went to the dark side and did a US and SW trip and that one time was enough.

So now I'm trying to talk DH into going to DL this go around. He keeps complaining its so small by comparison and we'll be bored pretty quickly and is refusing to even talk about it. :sad2: We wont be driving so our outside DL choices will be limited but there has to be something!! Please help me figure out what that 'something' can be. :goodvibes We'll have our 8 year old in tow so have to keep it super kid friendly. Open to ALL suggestions/options. Even thinking of taking a Disney cruise while there but not sure that's do-able??

Help?!?!?

Disneyland Resort, in 2 parks, has nearly the same amount of rides and such as all 4 WDW parks combined. No lack of things to do for sure. If you want small, go to Tokyo Disneyland! ;)

And you're in California! So combine it with Hollywood. Knotts Berry Farm. Universal Studios. 6 Flags. Etc etc.

What is he into or what are some of his hobbies?

My husband loves baseball and craft beer, so showing him all the "unique" beers that he could try at the hotels and DCA (beers we can't get here in Texas), along with the fact that his favorite baseball team is in Anaheim to play the Angels pretty much sealed the trip for him.

He's not a Disney superfan, so I really had to highlight things to do to make the trip equally enjoyable for him.

Good luck convincing him! DLR is super fun - I found it to be MUCH more laidback than WDW!

If you had a car these are a few things to go and see.
Air and Space museum, the Endeavor Space shuttle is there.

Legoland - If your son is into those.

Besides the Zoo there is the drive through Safari just north of the Zoo.

There are two dinner shows by Knott's Berry Farm. Medieval Times and Pirate's Dinner Adventure.

Good luck

Knott's is a fun park. Also, universal. Same as pp's mentioned. What about a beach? There are a lot, Redondo, Long, more I'm sure.

You also don't have to base yourself in Anaheim for the entire trip--you can switch hotels and stay in the LA area or in San Diego and visit those parts for a few days without a car.

There are so many things to do in Southern California anybody can find something of interest.

From a base in Anaheim you can very easily do both Disney parks, which are very different from their FL siblings, do Knott's Berry Farm and Knott's Soak City Water Park and then move to a hotel in the LA area for LA sights. Depending on what you like, Santa Monica would be my first choice, but if you want to do lots of touristy things without a car then Hollywood is a better choice.
