My husband says not to bother buying trader pins off ebay :headache: (I found a "green" seller off the pin thread, I can get 6 pins for $15, Not bad I don't think. (looks like she is buying sets for the ?? one and selling off the other 6 :0) )).

My hubby says he remembers bins at the pin stores where there were $2-$4 pins. I so do not recall that ??

can anyone clear this up for me ??

clearly Legit pins can not be had for less than $2-$4 (including shipping (canada)). Am I wasting my time researching sellers and paying for shipping ??? I wanted 10-15 traders for each of us, 2 kids 2 adults and really don't want to spent hundreds of dollars for traders.

TIA
T

We have never seen any bins of trading pin at Disneyland. So, I think your husband is misremembering something. We have bought pins off of e-bay before, they are much less expensive, but make sure they are official Disney pins (have the rubber Mickey to hold the pins). If you go this route don't expect very elaborate pins, or a large selection. We ordered 40 when we first went and only got about a dozen different pins (muppets and pirates). We also found many of the cast members had these pins, so there were less choice for trading.

We have bought trader pins off of Ebay multiple times. We have probably bought 150-200. In those, we have only received 2 that didn't look real. Are the other ones real? I don't know how to know for sure but they are stamped the same and look the same. I received one trader that was the same I paid full-price for at Disneyland and it is identical! We have one guy we buy from who is a great Ebayer.

My kids and I are mainly trading with CMs and other casual guests. We don't trade with the serious traders.

I have talked to several cast members who buy pins at 75% off on clearance and use those for traders. I think this is also how a lot of traders get on ebay.

Why is your husband worried they aren't legit...because he feels bad about trading 'bad' pins? Or, because he he wants to collect real pins? If you want to be sure you have 'real' then you should buy in the parks. Otherwise, I don't feel badly trading with the folks I trade with using Ebay pins. I still spend money in the parks on additional trading pins, lanyard, a book, etc. Disney created the trading pins to make money. It was a fantastic idea and it does make them money...I know I spend money on it in the parks!

I've never seen $2 pins at Disneyland or Disneyworld. If they exist, someone please tell us where, lol!

If you're buying 6 pins for $15, that's $2.50 each...that's a good price.

In the parks/DTD you can expect to pay $5 and higher. Even the starter sets which come with duplicate pins (one to keep one to trade) and a lanyard will run you about $4 or more each.

Ebay has legit sellers with larger quantities...if you don't see them listed, write to the sellers and ask about larger quanities, or at least about combining shipping (since most of the sellers use the Priority boxes that cost the same whether you have 6 or 60 pins in it...it's one price for anything that will fit in the box.

One of my daughters is a pin fanatic and I do not remember seeing bins of pins and surely not $2.00. Good luch though.

thank-you all, I was pretty sure he was mistaken!

I will continue on my ebay quest for trader pins :0)

Sorry, your DH is mistaken, there are not bins of trader pins anywhere in the parks, if there were no one would buy from eBay. :)
Thank you for using the eBay Super Thread, it's great to know that people are using it. :) Enjoy your pin trades!

I too have ordered pins from ebay multiple times. I usually get a lot of 20 pins for about 15-20$. They are not the niecest ones, sometimes have doubles but we don't care because the kids love trading them multiple times during our stay :goodvibes Bid with confidence, just make sure to check the person star rating & comments before bidding ;)

The only time I (my son) got a fake pin was from a CM at WDW  :rotfl2:

id be carefull on ebay. at least i was told too. i heard that sometimes the pins are not real... maybe someone can clarify this!?

I have ordered pins several times from someone recommended here on the boards. They have been batches that end up at about $1.00 a pin. I also have picked up pins at the outlet store just for trading. The last time I got Hannah Montana pins for $4.00 for 5 pins. I bought 6 packs and we peppered the parks with Hannah before we left. Nobody had any issues with any of the pins. It is about the kids having fun. I still bought pins at the park, but boy was I glad to have those less expensive traders.

right Sara, a lot of eBay sellers are selling fake pins, but the OP said she was using the eBay thread on the Collector's Board and that thread is very helpful for avoiding scrapper sellers.
