You can find restaurants on this link and if you click on each, it will bring you to their menus with prices

You really do have to compare and see if the Dining Plan is worth it for your family based on your eating habits.

If you want to order groceries, we have ordered from Garden Grocer and have been pleased with the service. You can order before you leave home and they will deliver to your resort. You can find them on the web with a google search. There is another grocery that delivers that I have seen here on the DIS, but i do not know the name.

Enjoy your first trip!

I wouldn't say "a lot" of the table services take 2 credits. Only the signature/fine dining places and a few of the character/show meals - Cinderella, Hoop Dee Doo revue, Spirit of Aloha luau, can't think of what else. Most table services take 1 credit.

And they do sell limited grocery items in the resort stores (especially OKW which is a DVC resort will have a bigger selection) but the selection is limited and you will pay more for the convenience.

The other grocery shopping service is We Go Shop.

Lastly, if you get a car service to take you from the airport to Disney instead of Magical Express, you can arrange for a grocery stop on the way.

I had free dining in September and added what I ate and added what I would have paid for. I found that because it was hot I didn't really want the food but got it because it was free. The restaraunts were about $35-40. This was a nice steak or seafood meal, dessert, and drink. I ended up buying a lot of snacks at the end to use my credits up. Counter service was about $15 (entree, dessert, and drink). It's a lot of food. You could do counter service plan and the pay oop for the restaraunts if you only want to to a few. Look at how much food you would normally eat.

All the info was very useful thank you looking forward for more good tips

If you are staying in a 1 or 2 BR at OKW, you'll have a full kitchen in your villa. Take advantage of that and eat in your room for some meals to cut costs. Over on the DVC boards there are threads about what people cook in their rooms.

We stayed at SSR and did a grocery order from Garden Grocer. No problems. We ate some breakfasts in the room, no lunches or dinners, and had bottled water and snacks.

I agree with above poster - if you have a full kitchen, why not take advantage of it? We stay at OKW every year, and I rent a car for one day (about $35 or less) and go to the Walmart Super Center 5 min. away to stock up - I buy groceries for 4 of us for 12 days, pop, snacks, alcohol, water and it usually runs me around $250 (some souvenirs are included with that!). We love the ability to eat breakfast in the morning, go to the parks then meet back at the room for a leisurely lunch and some pool time (or reading on the deck or nap time), then a quick dinner and back out to the parks for the evening. We only ate out twice last trip, so my total for food was around $300 for four (That's $210 for groceries, $90 for our eating out). So you can save a lot if you don't do the dining plan.

iluveeyore,

Can you give me directions to the SuperWalmart from OKW? Or at least the address that I can plug into our GPS?

I don't have the address, but this is how I get there - leaving OKW, turn right. At stop sign past SSR, turn right. Past DTD Marketplace, turn left at Hotel Plaza Blvd. At Crossroads (end of that street), turn right. Then travel approx. five minutes straight (you will pass under an overpass about halfway there), the Super Walmart is on your right. If anyone else knows the actual street names, please chime in! I just know it takes 10-15 min. by car depending on traffic. I'm sure a cab wouldn't be too much either, but I like having the car rental for 24 hours.

I just looked it up, and I'm pretty sure it's the Walmart at 3250 Vineland Road, Kissimmee - I entered directions for Mapquest from 1510 North Cove Rd., Lake Buena Vista (OKW), and it's the same as the route I take. Hope that helps!

That is perfect....Thank you so much.......
