Help me put my scaredy-cat DH on a roller coaster.

Perhaps try BTMRR again, but sit right in the front, behind the engine. Because of the length of the train, as you go over the top of each hill, you go partially down slowly before it speeds up. It feels like a tamer version of the ride. Riding in the back is the most intense! That's where I always sit. Good luck! :D

There was a show called "The Science of Disney Imagineering" I caught on t.v. once. I don't remember the particulars, but there was an episode that explained the physics of one of the rides. Here's a link to an introduction to the show. Maybe you can find something that will help. Sometimes, understanding those fundamental laws of motion can bolster one's courage by easing the mind. (Gee, I sound like a nerd.)

With that being said, I get motion sickness really bad (literally crawled off Star Tours at Disneyworld with a barf bag I carried with me just in case). The poor cast member who saw my unfortunate state after the ride....Is she okay???... Controlling his breathing at certain points of the rides as a previous poster described is really good advice and helps me tons on Radiator Springs, Big Thunder, and Indiana Jones. Those are the only 3 I can handle. And Big Thunder is so much smoother after it's refurb. Good luck!! I hope he finds his courage!!!

No question- take him on BTMRR. That's the smoothest coaster I've been on in my life and I'm a little bit of a coaster weenie myself!

Cal Screamin is the most intense, IMO, due to the launch. Even I can get a headache on that.

Here's a novel idea. How about the Calico Mine Ride at Knott's? It's kind of rollercoasterish but still extremely slow.

California Screamin' has a state of the art launch. It's literally about as fast a launch as an exotic sports car, but the kicker is that it's still going that fast up the hill.

However, when it comes to anxiety, the slow clacking sound of a chain pulled coaster going up a hill can be worse.

This is really good to know! It might be your husband doesn't understand that there's a big difference between amusement park roller coasters and Disney "roller coasters". Parks like Six Flags, Cedar Point and Kings Dominion have the scary kind of roller coasters: super fast with steep drops and flips that leave you gasping for breath. Roller coasters like that are designed for thrill-seekers and adrenaline junkies.

That's brilliant! Thanks. :) He is steeling his nerves up for BTMRR.

Y'all are great!
