Do you like your vacuum? My Dyson broke and will cost over $100 to fix even if I order the parts myself and fix it following youtube videos. So no guarantee. Downstairs is all tile and hardwood. Three bedrooms and stairs are carpet. I like bagless. I don't want to spend a alot of money. I didn't like my Dyson that much considering the cost and the fact that it didn't last very long. I thought the attachments were awkward to use and I thought it was heavy. I always value the DIS forum opinions. I really want something that works well and will last.

I'm no help for you - as my favorite vacuum and the ONLY vacuum I will ever own is a Kirby. Personally all others are worthless. :rolleyes1 They do have bags. I got mine off eBay for $325 (they are around $2000 new). I used to sell them, and after seeing what they can do...and how they compare to others (including Rainbow, Dysons, Electrolux, etc.) - it is amazing. They last forever and ever. My grandma still had one that she got as a wedding gift, over 50 yrs ago.

It's not lighter or much cheaper. But I love my LG Kompressor. My Dyson went out too, wasn't worth replacing. I've found spending less than $150 doesn't get the suction I would like. The great thing about the LG is they one upped the Dyson. It has two motors like the Dyson to get suction from all over, not just the middle. I accidently ran over the cord quickly, the vaccum cleaner torn up the cord in seconds, you could see the wires. I've accidently ran over cords before, but no vaccum had the suction to tear itself apart. Luckily it was under warranty since I had just purchased it. Now I'm extra careful not to run over the cord. The cord self rewinds with the push of a button. LG Kompressor series are a hundred or two less than Dyson, but really much better.

I clean show homes for a local builder each week and use a Bissell Powerforce...it does have a bag but there may be a bagless model. I have used Hoover - Dirt Devil - Eureka - expensive and cheap. The Bissell Powerforce is the best that I have used - and the least expensive (about $40). Good luck in your search.

I bought a Kenmore Intuition bagless about 6 months ago, and I love it. It handles my long hair and the cat fur very well. With tax, it was around $380.

We have hardwoods with rugs downstairs and carpet upstairs. The vacuum has 4 levels of settings, XLO, LO, Med and High, which works will all our flooring.

I am heading to the stores again today. Went to Kohl's and they were remodeling so they had no floor models to look at, only boxes.

I've had a Dyson for 5 years.. I HATE IT... HATE IT HATE IT! It was ok in the begining... But not so much anymore..
I recently got a Hoover Platinum... alot cheapier... very light... and WORKS GREAT!! It is however a bag... but the trade off for a vacumn that works compared to my dyson... priceless!

We have a Bissell Healthy Home that I really like. Got it at Lowe's I think. Really good on-board attachments (including a turbo brush we use on the furniture & stairs), great on all the floors (wood + vinyl + carpets).

I never liked the Dyson in the store, it felt like cheap plastic to me.

Good luck with your choice! :goodvibes

The Dyson is SO heavy, bulky and the attachments are awkward to use. I wish I had read reviews on it first before I impulse bought it :(

Buying a Kirby is the only way to go. Its worth the investment. There is nothing like it. I have a herd of dogs and that vacuum cleaner has been through hell and back with dog hair, dirt and sand yet still runs like the first day I took it out of the box.

I know they are expensive but if you go to a Kirby store you can buy a refurbished one. Kirby stands by their product so dont be afraid. I promise you wont be disappointed.

Dysons are total crap. I dont know anyone still happy with their Dyson after 6 years which is how long I still have had Kirby. I will likely never have to purchase another one and even if I do it will be a Kirby.

I have a Kenmore, got really good ratings, we like it ok for the price we paid.

My mother has a Kirby, is in love with it . I hope one day it will be mine lol.

Do you have the 200 series--I was going to get a dyson animal--but really like the LG's alot after I tried them out. I'm kindof leaning toward the 400--it really had some power.

I have a Shark Navigator and LOVE it. I think it's abt $150ish after coupon at Bed Bath & Beyond.

I'm shopping also. Curious, how much is a Kirby?

Nevermind! I googled it and there is no way I'm paying $1,800 for a Kirby!

love love love my shark......bought it referbished at ollies for around 100.00..it is the best vacume i have ever had

I'm debating what to do. I can get a Dyson at Costco for around $250. The best I could find for the LG was $299 at Walmart and I would have to wait a week or two to get it. Which Dyson did you have and which do you like better?

Another vote for the shark navigator lift away...it is supposedly compared the same against the dyson, except in price :lmao:...It is awesome, when i ordered it, i also got a shark steamer for free ...Happy vaccuming! :)

okay just bought the LG Kompresser 300-- I'm trying it out as soon as my husband puts it together.

I was able to try out a couple of Dyson's (including the Animal) and all three of the LG series and the suction on the 300 and 400 were pretty good. the 400 just had more accessories--so I bought the LG 300 for $299 at Home Depot. I had brought the Walmart ad in planning on price matching (our store won't price match amazon) But they already had a sign up having it on sale for $299--however it rang up $399 they overrode it. I'm pretty pleased with the price and hope it continues to work well. I just vacuumed with my old sweeper yesterday so I'm eager to try out the new one today.
