Help Me Play Hooky From Work...

Don't you have a medical procedure scheduled for 16 days from now?
Actually, all you have to say is you have a medical issue, and your boss can not legally ask you one single question about it.

This is unpaid time right?

Come work here, these people are all full of excuses and know how to make it work :confused3

I'm right there with you...my company REALLY does NOT like giving anyone any time off for anything.

I had to submit my Disney Cruise request in July for a Nov. cruise...and was told I didn't put in enough advanced notice! WHAT?! 4 months isn't enough time?! I told them the cruise was paid for, and I couldn't get my money back...so they gave me the time off...however, an email was sent out a few days after that, stating that BEFORE you purchase airline tickets, cruise tickets, etc...you must have your vacation approved IN WRITING, otherwise you will lose out on your money because you won't be able to go.

For the record, it's the week before Thanksgiving...no one else had asked for it off, and since July, no one HAS asked for it off. Stupid company.

I can totally understand b/c DH has to deal with this kind of stuff too. I work for the same company he does but I'm lucky enough to have a boss who understands that his employees do have a life outside of the office. DH's area goes strictly by the book, don't ask for an extra minute off. Personally, I would never use a lie that involves my health or anyone in the family because I just always feel like that would be asking for trouble.

Just a thought.

I hope you do not DIS at work ... after all if I became a little suspicious of my employees I know I would start looking at their IT history.

Even if you clear your cashe, history and cookies we can still see what you have done.

Anyhow ....

Ooooh, don't you know the rule about lying to work? I never, ever do it not because I'm so honest but because you absolutely need to meticulous about what you say....you need to remember it long down the road because you can guarantee someone else will! To me its not worth it! There was a woman I used to work with who always came up with some doozies....often they were so outlandish we knew they had to be lies because that much stuff just doesn't happen to one person. Or she would create a new lie forgetting the details of a lie a few years before. Like one year she had to go see her paternal grandmother in the hospital, but she forgot that same grandmother died a few years before. :scared1:

If it were me, I'd keep it reallllllly simple, or just shelf the whole plan and use vacation time.

Can't you just call in the day of and say you are not feeling well? Simple enough. That is something that does not need to be 19 days advanced notice.

Cant you just call off sick and get a note....I usually just got to the Dr and they give me a note for whatever "ailment" I am using that time...back pain...foot pain..whatever...
We have to pick vacation NOW for all of 2007 and sometimes things come up that you need time off for. Our vacations can not be switched for any reason so once you pick thats what you get... personal days can not be used after thanksgiving until Jan so anytime anything comes up in that space we have to just get sick and go to "dr note" as we call him and get a sick note covering us.

LOL, I'm 100% serious! So no crazy answers (although I know I will get them). I really need an "honest" to goodness excuse!

How about YOUR FIRED! That will give you plenty of time off. :rotfl2:

FYI to any interested parties...

I turned in my request today, and should know by tomorrow whether or not my request was approved or not, but I have a good feeling about it! And so you know, as of right now, I left the reason I need the time off blank, and I wasn't questioned about it. If I am asked, I will just have to come up with something then. No sense lying now... I might not need to.

Thanks for helping me scheme!!!
