Okay, so I have been lurking on these boards for a few months getting great ideas for our up coming trip March 4-8. I went with hotwire and got the Hotel Menage for an unbeatable price (45 a night). I wasn't TOO happy that it was the Hotel Menage after hearing so many negitive things on this board about that hotel, but it is clean and nice and within walking distance...so eh. I will know better for next time! :confused3

So I feel so overwhelmed about planning the itenerary for our trip! HELP! It will be me (28), my DH (26) and our two kiddos, ds (3) and ds (18 months). We are driving from phx and arriving on the 4th. Got our tickets online. I have GK reservations for one of the days for brunch. We are on a budget (who isn't right?) I would love to spend no more then 75 a day on food.

Any tips that you all might have will be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :yay:

One food spot that is sometimes overlooked and can be pretty resonable is Whitewater Snacks. It is by the pool at the Grand Californian. It is a counter service place. But, if you have a car and a fridge, the best way to save money is just stop at a grocery store and stock up.

Hope you have a blast.

I don't think the Hotel Menage will be a good fit for you. It's quite far. I'm not sure you can walk because it's on the other side of the freeway as most hotels. Plus with two little kids, that walk will be killer especially at the end of the day. Another disadvantage is that mid-day breaks won't be convenient with all of that walking. Especially with young kids, mid-day breaks are very important.

As for ways to save on food. Bring your own breakfast (or if the hotel provides it that's great). Eat on your way to the park or in the line waiting for the park to open. If you decide to switch hotels and take a mid-day break, you can store some food in a hotel room fridge (assuming they have one) and eat sandwiches or something at the hotel, while relaxing. Then you're really only spending for dinner.

Look on tripadvisor.com for reviews on Hotel Menage as well. I don't think it's as bad as you might think... they have great food in their hotel, same as the hotel in Laguna Beach. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised especially from the price you paid!
