We are heading out at the end of the month :) I added a day to our trip this year to allow the kids a resort day. I know they are going to want to hang and play at the pool. Once done we will wonder over to Disney Springs to look around and have a 6:30pm dinner reservation at Boathouse.

My problem is this is our third (and mostly likely final) Disney trip. Earl of Sandwich has been on my to try list since the first trip nine years ago....but I have not had the luck. When I booked the resort day I figured we would go to Disney Springs around noon, grab lunch and wonder until dinner. However travelling with the DDP I am concerned we will be to full for dinner still. Also my kids won't be up/moving that day until after 10am so won't want to leave the pool at noon anyhow.

How can I work this or do I give up on trying the sandwiches? My other thought was head over to the springs on my own (using Disney transportation) and bring lunch back for everyone. Is this an option? Its about a 12min ride from my resort according to calculators. I won't mind the break from the family to pick up lunch if its possible.

If you're set on trying EoS then I would make the trek solo and bring lunch back. The only thing you need to consider is that while the calculator might only show 12 minutes, the buses going to/from Disney Springs seem to take forever. And depending on what resort you're staying, the bus might make multiple stops before it gets to your resort.

Any chance that you're staying at a resort that has the boat to Disney Springs? That might be a nicer option for you.

i know i am in the minority, but EoS is just a sanwich. I am in CT and we have sandwich shops and grinder (hoagie) shops everywhere. This is nothing special to me at all!

If you are dying to try it, i like the abandon the family idea. Take yourself off and enjoy! don't rush for lunch, wander some shops that your family mightbe impatient with. Take some me time. then wander back w lunch when you are ready.

have a great time!

I'm at CBR so think the bus will be my only option. I'm okay if it takes me an hour or so, love the family, but after 5 solid park days/late nights the 'quiet' ride will probably be refreshing. The more I think of it, the nicer this plan sounds.

I have to agree with this, I've never thought it was anything special. But, like this poster says, if you set on it, then the break from the family would be a good option. Have fun!

Glad you didn't say you'll be at one of the All Stars! Now that is a long bus ride. The times I've stayed at CBR and used the busses to Disney Springs it didn't seem bad at all. I love the idea of heading out on your own. And they'll all be so excited to see you back with a sack of sandwiches. :flower:

As far as this being your third (and most likely last) Disney trip, WHAT?! Even if you take a long break between taking the kids and any possible grandkids you may have - never say never. That is just too depressing a thought!

We were at OKW for 7 nights last year w/DD4 at the time. I did a ton of shopping at Epcot on day 4 or 5. When we got back to the room that evening, I realized I had bought the wrong size of something for DD. DH volunteered to go back to Epcot and switch it out. I felt so bad for him the whole time he was gone..until he came back all smiles. He loved the quiet time and was the only person on the bus chatting with the driver. I think it was his favorite part of the trip :)

I don't get EoS. Jersey Mike's, Cappriotti's, Port of Subs, and almost any local deli are all better than EoS, which is a very average sandwich. Unless there are zero sub shops where you live, drop the idea of EoS.

Agree with others that Earls is good but not worth missing pool time with your kids for. Plus they have locations around the country, so chances are good you can try it at some point if so inclined

Lol you are 100% accurate on that. It is the 3rd/final trip we have in the planning with my kids/family. They are aging out (man at 5!!, I've done something wrong) and we have a large bucket list of places to see...BUT I've already informed them and hubby that in 15+ years and grandkids start arriving it will be trips again with them :)

I'm in Canada, so we don't have EOS or even 'sandwich' shops around here. Closest we have is Subway restaurants, so it is something we'd like to try. That said I will also most likely decide as the day goes. If I want the break and kids want sandwiches I'll head out, if we are too relaxed and having fun, than we'll eat at the food court.
