My husband is returning from a 5 month deployment next month and I am going to surprise him with a 3 day trip for 2 to Disney. We have been with the kids so many times I'm not sure what to do there without them!

We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside. I need help finding restaurants and attractons that would be fun for us! Would you get the dining plan? Are there any romantic things to do while we are there. We have never been to WDW as a "couple" just as a mom and dad! Do you need to make dinner rservations? I am clueless! When we go with the kids we are on a tight budget, and usually eat off property...

Please help me plan 3 fun fulled days for my DH and I! I'm hoping this will be like the honeymoon we never had!

Jamie,
DH and I did WDW in February for the first time w/o kids! It was great. We didn't make any ADRs - Quick Service was fine for us. We only did a couple of FPs for the attractions we really wanted to see. Best of all - we could bypass Fantasyland! We got up when we wanted, got to the parks when we wanted, park-hopped when we felt like it, etc. Just go with the flow and enjoy the wonderful time you have together. I'm in a military family, also (via the son-in-law), so enjoy the short time you have together as a couple. God bless our servicemen and women!

Do one of the backstage tours. We love the backstage tour of the Animal Kingdom. Another fun thing is the Segway tour at Epcot.

If you want it romantic take it slow. Resist trying to do everything. In fact, I recommend going back to your room for an afternoon "nap" everyday.

Now if you want romantic dinner, I suggest you visit one of the "signature" restaurants. They are normally easier to get ADR;s. Or one of the resort restaurants.

good couple restaurants...... other folks may have ones to add... but these are the ones we love.

Artist Point @ Wilderness Lodge
Brown Derby @ DHS (choose a late dining time)
Bistro de Paris @ France (upstairs)
Jiko @ AKL
Sanaa @ AKV-Kidani
Portabella @ Downtown Disney
Citricos @ Grand Floridia

Stroll the resorts grounds particularly at sunset or in the evening....
Poly
Boardwalk
POFQ
Beaches at Poly, GF, Beach Club, Yacht club

I would agree Jiko's would be romantic. Brown Derby has excellent food but I found it to be a little loud with lots of kids. Go later that might help. Do you golf? Maybe a tee time or just miniature golf (night time would be nice with it all lit up). Float in the lazy river at the water parks if it is warm enough. Sit outside by the pool with a drink and relax. Sit at the Poly and watch the fireworks. They stream in the music.

Just enjoy your time together.

My husband and I have celebrated our 15th, 20th and 25th anniversary at Disney without children and are going back in May to celebrate our 29th. Like others have mentioned we enjoyed going at our pace...really taking the time to enjoy spending the time together in what we did, more so than trying to accomplish seeing/doing everything. We enjoy getting up early and riding/seeing the things we like the most, head back to the resort for the pool or nap and then went back out for the evening until parks closed.

Restaurants we enjoy are Californian Grill (definitely for special occasions-pricey), Artist Pointe at Wilderness, we enjoy the variety buffet at Boma, Italian at Tony's, Le Cellier at Epcot all which are nice table service dinners. If you are looking for great food for less price....Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney, Pepper Market at Coronado Springs Resort, Bongos Cuban has outside order and eat area and Wolfgang Express outside eating are both at Downtown. These are just a few....it all depends upon your preference.

I think you will find how relaxing Disney World can be when you slow down a little, make the experience of enjoying the moments together the most important. Also please accept our appreciation for your family's sacrifice for the safety and protection of our county.

Yes! My DH and I go as a couple all the time. We have no kids at the present time so I can't compare. But! Epcot is great for food and romance. It's really pretty there and there are little places to eat at that are just lovely. I love the restaurant in France. It's menus are all in French. Like some said before you can pretty much skip Fantasyland since it's aimed more at kids. Almost all of the FP attractions are worth riding for adults. Our favorite is Splash Mountain and the Twilight Tower of Terror. I would recommend Advanced Dinner Reservations for the most table service restaurants. Because they can fill up really quickly. If you can do Character Dining I'd recommend that just for the novelty of it. I really enjoy Mama Melrose's place in DHS and I loved the Rain Forest Cafe in AK. Over all there are tons of things to do with out kids and you get to play around with the characters too they will always humor you! At least me...but I guess walking around with Stitch ears on my head constitutes free game to mess with. :P

No matter what it will be fun and pleasurable and try PI too! Because they've got some great restaurants a little bit pricey even compared to in the parks but so worth it!

We are planning a trip this May. It'll be our second time going. Thankfully it's only a pre-technical training trip and not a deployment. We are lucky this year.

Thanks for serving with us!
