Help me plan a trip to remember (on a budget)

DLH is very far from the front gates... don't let anyone tell you otherwise. And there is NO SHUTTLE option from this hotel. You could take the monorail from Downtown Disney (which you have to pass through on your way from hotel to gates anyway) into Tomorrowland but of course then you miss out on rope drop etc.

Absolutely plan on renting a wheelchair or Electronic Convenience Vehicle. Your Mom will have more energy to enjoy the park if she is not always looking for a place to sit down.

One of our family's favourite things about the Disney parks is the "shows" (as opposed to rides). They are of excellent quality and you get to sit (in shade or A/C) so you might want to plan your park "strategy" around showtimes.

You are all right. The distance was going to overwhelm my mom and I had inquired here a month ago and everyone was so helpful and refered me to Deckerts so we are all set there (except I need to call and change my delivery and drop off from Camelot Inn and Suites to Disneyland Hotel:banana: ).

I am getting sooo excited. I wrote a letter to the hotel explaining our situation and told them our room location request. All I am looking for is maybe a little extra kindness. This trip will be special no matter what so I will not expect anything but be pleasantly surprised if they do anything even a little special to make my mom feel good.

Question: Does anyone know how you get to be the 1st family to open the park? DO you just have to show up REALLY early or is there some way to possibly set it up in advance for special circumstances? It would be cool for my Mom to be a part of this and we are doing Early Entry on Sunday 6/1, our 1st day in the park and thought maybe I could work this out.

I think I am going to start a trip report to sort all this stuff out in my head. It is funny, I have been to DL about a dozen times over my life but I really want this trip to be the one we all talk about.

Thanks again everyone!

Take TONS of photos during your trip. When you get home, use one of the many on line photo sites (I use My Publisher through Costco) and make a photo album. I've done this with several of my Disney trips. I leave them on the coffee table and everyone has so much fun looking through them! Your photos and memories will last a lifetime! Have a wonderful trip!

This is a wonderful idea, and costs little. The memories will be some of the best souvies you can bring home.
