Dh is having some back issues and my mom has planters fasciitous (sp?) in one foot. My two brothers and dad and I can go on anything and want to go on everything. In your infinite WDW wisdom, help me plan fun, slow, and easy days at the park for them. We also plan to go to DTD and BB. Now, I don't know what DH can actually do at BB, so we might have to reconsider that. We are also staying at POFQ.

Thanks a million! This is hard for me....I'm the go go go WDW-er that usually runs and runs and sees everything. I want to make this trip fun, yet safe and slow for DH. :)

Well hit the Fantisland rides they are nice and calm.

The train and 3_d shows as well.

As for DTD it's a lot of walking and not many places to sit but on the walls of the trees and so forth.

Now BB Sit him in the Cross Country Creek And just let him float around all day.

Good Luck

Well, if you could go to TL instead of BB, you could sit him in a chair near a palm tree umbrella by the wave pool. My DH does not have back trouble, and just loved it there. Its a very restful day.

At Epcot, that ride in the Land that goes in a little boat and you learn all about plant life and nature (so sorry can't remember the name of it) is very calm and we all really like it too. I don't think Soarin would bother his back--its not jerky at all...

At MK, POTC (if open) and Jungle Cruise are pretty tame from what I remember....not jerky.

I would go early in the morning when they first open, and let everyone split up according to what they want to ride. Meet for lunch around 1pm, eat & then head back to the hotel around 2pm for swim/rest (the ones that want to). The energetic ones can stay in the park all day! Then schedule a table service dinner at the park for 8-9pm. The others can head back to the park after resting and join you for a nice relaxing dinner. They can then watch the fireworks or perhaps ride a few rides together as a family after dinner.

This will allow the ones that have more medical problems to get that extra rest, without feeling like they are dragging the entire family down. Yet the Disney Commandos can still have their fun.

I usually meet my sister's family at the park every year, we all have different needs, so this schedule works well for all of us.

Also, we usually try to put a waterpark day in between theme park days. These seem to be more relaxing for everyone involved.

I just injured my neck but went to Disney World for Memorial Day anyway. I knew the things I couldn't do. My husband did Rock N Roller Coaster. He got a FastPass and when it was his time, I sat on a wall outside and only had a fifteen minute wait. I thought about doing the preshow and then bailing out right before the ride but thought a sit with a cold beverage sounded nice. We both did Twilight Zone preshow (using FastPass). I took the Express elevator and he boarded the one to the 13th floor. You should be able to enjoy most of Disney World together with your husband leaving before boarding a ride that is bad for his back.

For your mother, if her feet are really painful, consider renting a wheelchair. I've had the two males in my life - my husband and my father - do Disney World in a wheelchair. Both resisted at first. I insisted. They both agreed that it was the best thing they ever did. You can definitely still "go, go, go".

We have gone to WDW with a group and the BEST advice I can give you is to not stress about having to be the one to decide for everyone what you are going to do that day. Being a planner is great, but do not feel badly if your Mom and Dad want to go back to the resort before you do, or dh wants to go to the pool and you want to ride a couple more rides with the kids. Don't feel guilty if some of you want to have a leisurely lunch while others want to grab a nap. I have been on Disney vacations with extended family and friends and no matter how much we all love being there we don't all have the same moods, energy levels, and preferences. People can get weary and cranky, especially when they feel they are doing something that they really don't want to be doing. We tend to all be happier when we split up once in a while. Just my 2 cents. Have fun!!!

Don't forget the WEDWay (or Tomorrowland Transit Authority, not sure which they are calling it now). Take in the Tiki Room, Haunted Mansion, Hall of Presidents, Country Bears, just about everything at Fantasyland. If you haven't done it though, make SURE he does not do Stitch! yes, you're sitting stationary the whole time, but those shoulder harnesses can jar your back and neck horribly!
