Help me Plan a Memorial Day Weekend Getaway

Kinda funny that I'm asking this since I'm a lifelong FL resident and many visitors here aren't, but I figure I may get some unique ideas from everyones experiences.

We are looking to getaway May 25th for 3 nights somewhere in Florida. Would like a nice relaxing weekend, where we can stay at the hotel, and not have to see the car the whole weekend

This is for my GF and I. Two mid 20's. I think we would like something on or walking distance to the beach, with plenty to do in the area. We live in Tampa, and would like to be at least an hour and a half or so from here!

We considered an Orlando getaway, but do that all the time and want something different (although the Grand Cypress $139 deal may be our fallback). Cost is not too important but prefer $200 or less per night.

In the past we have done Hammock Beach in Palm Coast and loved it, but they want $450/nt this time! Ouch! Similar would be good!

Hey fellow Floridian!!

Have you thought about maybe doing St. Augustine? I went there years ago and found it relaxing, romantic and just as nostalgic as Disney. It really felt like I was in another time.

How about the Keys? $200 won't get you much Mem. weekend but it's just an idea.

The Keys are kinda out, mainly do to the drive (8 hours minimum) and the limited hotel availability during the holidays, otherwise that would be a go

Saint Augustine is an idea, though we visit the town once a year or so, never been to their beach. Can you recommend any good beachfront hotels?

I had considered Sandestin. Have you stayed before. Which unit(s) and how are they?
