Dh is getting me a new camera for xmas! Yeah!

We have it narrowed down to 2 Sony Cybershot models, and right now they are both the same price. I can't figure out which is better, more megapixels, or higher zoom. :confused3

DSC H10
has 8 megapixels, 10 optical zoom.

DSC W170
has 10 megapixels, but only 5 optical zoom.

I'm leaning towards the 1st one, as 8 is still good for megapixels, but with 10 optical zoom, i'll get better shots of the animals on Kilamanjaro safaris. :rotfl:

any ideas???

Hi There!

We are leaving for Disney in 11 days, and I had to buy a new camera because we only have a Nixon SLR and that is too big to carry around! So we really researched, and decided on the Canon ELPH. Ours is the 10, it had a few different features, and was on sale for the same price as the 8 at Best Buy. My SIL got the 8 and loves it! We are in Canada, but I think the sale should be the same in the US, you should check on that. it had a lot of neat features, and does video as well.

Good Luck!

My DH has a canon Elph and when we were there 2 weeks ago he was able to take great pictures of everything including SpectroMagic and Wishes. It was a great camera to have!

I am interested in purchasing the Canon ELPH before our next Disney trip in February. Our old digital camera is on its last legs. :-( Would someone be willing to help me with a D.U.M.B. question?

We have always used Kodak Easyshare. Put the camera on the dock, transfer pics to Kodak Easyshare Gallery with the push of a button. From there upload to Shutterfly for use. Easy Peasy. How does the transfer process work with the ELPH? I'm afraid! Afraid of technology I tell you!!!! Help?

hi there, i have the step up from the sony h10- i have the h50....it is awesome...so i can only imagine the h10 is...the best part of the h50 is the 15 times zoom and the huge 3 inch lcd, along with the awesome pics it takes...our first disney trip, i had only 4 times zoom on a canon i had, i know i missed out on many great pics...the h50 takes great night photos also...good luck in your decision...

yes, i'm rather excited about teh 3" screen on the H10. I think that is the one i'm going with. 5x just won't get me anything good. And unless i'm planning on printing a lifesize portrait of the castle, i don't need 10 megapixels do it?

Thanks for helping!! :thumbsup2

I love my sony cybershot (it's my 2nd one, my 1st was a 5.0, and this one's a 7.2) and if I were to get a new one, I'd get the 1st one you mentioned too!

My vote would be for the Canon Elph. I've had my Canon SD 800 Elph for about two years now and took great pictures at WDW. I was really pleased with this camera. In fact I just bought my mom and son each a SD1100 Elph for Christmas this year. It was an easy decision for me to make.
