This will be our first time staying on site, and I'm trying to pick which moderate to stay at. Our biggest concerns are bus transportation and pool. Which moderate has the best bus service and the most fun pool area for our boys who are 6 and 8?

All help would be greatly appreciated!

Here is your answer in one resort...CSR!! It has the best pool of all the mods and one of the best on WDW property. They transportation is not shared with any resort making it very good. It is a large resort and has a Mexican/SW America theme.

Check out my CSR website below.

:D

My vote is also for CSR. Great pool area at the Dig Site. Bus transportation was great. Never waited longer than 10 minutes, except once, and that was because I had just missed the bus for where I was going to to.

Without question, my absolute favorite is POR!!!!!!!!
Been there done that many time, and df and I are goin' back!

The main pool is awesome, and the 'quie' pools are nice too! the food court is the best, you can bike ride, go fishin' at the fishin' hole, you can watch butterflies hatch, ey have an awesome playground and an awesome arcade!, and if you wan,t you can even walk to porfq to use the pool there.

There is a boat you can take to get to Downtown Disney - very enjoyable, the bus transportation has never been a problem - 4 stops!

Depending on the 'fee'l you want for the trip, you can choose from Alligator Bayou (very rustic) or the Mansions, (very elegant). DF and I prefer AB.

In my opinion, you can't go wrong with POR!!!!!

We just stayed at this resort in March and the Dig Site pool is GREAT-your boys will LOVE the large slide and the pyramid water fall-- the game room is super and the food court works for most families---

POR is my hands-down favorite and I'm sure your boys will love the pool there. They have a neat waterslide of decent length and it's somewhat hidden from view....kinda surprising.

TSTEWARTFAN is right....you can't go wrong with it. It's simply a lovely resort. The landscaping alone is so lush, you might think you were at a Deluxe Resort just from the looks of it.

The Food Court is great and offers a lot of food choices....there's also a pantry there to grab food items on the go. I.e. yogurt, bananas, single-serve cereals, cookies, pre-wrapped salads. Also, the food court is so open-air and inviting....it's really a pleasant place to eat your meal. There's tons of windows too so you can look at the beautiful surroundings outside....the marina and mini-boardwalk around the main building.

The boatride to Downtown Disney is a great way to unwind and relax. It's just so pleasant sauntering down the little riverway. You get to see stuff you've never seen at Disney before and it's nestled between some golf courses as well.

I've stayed at CBR and just didn't like it as much. I felt like it was a lot of walking and too many bus stops...should be called Caribbean Bus Resort.

I prefer the Alligator Bayou side of the resort as it feels so quiet and cozy.

Good luck as you make your choice!::MickeyMo

Everyone has a favorite moderate--or not. ;) (some folks only like deluxes). Our favorite is the Caribbean Beach Resort. We usually stay across the bridge from Old Port Royale in the Jamaica section. We find the short walk to Old Port Royale relaxing and we also find the bus service to be quite good.

However, with a 6 and an 8 year-old you might want something not quite so spread out. For that the POR might be a better choice then either CBR or CSR. Just my two cents worth. ::MickeyMo

All of the moderates are fine places and each pool is fun. Particularly if you don't know about the other pools!!! In any case the CSR pool is more spectacular with a longer slide and is more adveturous looking with the Mayan temple, vines, Jaguar and such. The pool at CBR is smaller and not as impressive but the Pirate fort is fun looking. The slide is smaller. The slide AT POFQ is more fantasy oriented as it is a sea serpent and kids love that. The pool at POR is the least interestin IMO but it is still fun and has fun features.
POR and POFQ share the buses though if they fill up at POFQ first (where they usually start) the bus can bypass POR.

We've stayed at all but PORFQ, which never appealed to us.

POR (Riverside) is great. Boys may enjoy Alligator Bayou side more than mansions. The pool is fun for their age, the landscaping is nice (keeps noise down), plenty of rentals there and the boat to Downtown Disney is a real plus. One of the best food courts on site. We have driven there to eat, even when staying elsewhere. We have sent many people there to stay, only to return and say it was their best trip ever. Centrally located, but buses can get crowded.

Coronado is great too ! The pool/playground "Dig Site" is great. Reasonable food by pool, relaxing with plenty of seating/cover and my kids had a blast. I've heard bus service here is good (we drive everywhere). The food court is alittle different, but if you go in, look over everything well, there is good value with good food. I've heard complaints on the tipping, we never tipped. We got our own drinks, our own food and seated ourselves....told them no tip. Was not a problem. It is a convention hotel, but while it may be full, many are in meetings so don't let that scare you.
Check above's website - it is a good one !

CBR - we will never go back. Beautiful hotel and we enjoyed walking and looking............but walk we did. Unless you are in a room close to main building, you are in for a walk. Large and spread out. We hated the food court - loud like a school cafeteria, selection poor. Pool was way too small for the size of the hotel. My boys were 9 & 4 and were totally bored with the slide. Probably great if you have no kids and you want a more beach/secluded kind of room, use of the quiet pool and are heading to sit down restaurants.
