Help me pick a moderate resort

I am trying to pick a moderate resort for our tentative November 2016 trip (hoping that FD comes out or the trip is off:scared:). We will have my MIL with us so we will get 2 connecting rooms, hopefully.

POR -- we have stayed here several times and LOVE it:love:. It's beautiful, familiar, has great food court, and boat to DTD. We love the boat rental too and always take a trip with our family to DTD and back. My DH is a creature of habit and resistant to change, so is lobbying for POR.

CBR -- we have stayed here once before. It is bright and sunny and tropical and gave me the feel that I was on a Caribbean vacation, although I like the trees and shady privacy of POR too. The pool is the best, and would be perfect for our 2yo, with the zero entry and pirate kids play area.

CSR -- DH and I have stayed here once and loved it but the kids have never been, so I thought a taste of something new would be great. There was only a more expensive business class room available for our dates, but I was hoping that might change.

POFQ -- we have never stayed there, but heard great things.

Thanks in advance for any input.:thanks:

I love POR and have stayed there three times. I've never been to CSR, and we stayed at CBR in 2009 before the room renovations. We weren't in love with the resort. I would love to try POFQ and think it's beautiful, but DH doesn't want to stay there. So that would be my pick!

My favourite moderate is POFQ and since it's the only moderate you've never tried, I say choose POFQ.

I think the OP was looking to get free dining as well, I don't believe POFQ ever is included in free dining so that most likely isn't going to be a good option.

Oh yeah, that rings a bell. Totally forgot about that. I haven't been in WDW mode for a long time and took a long break from the Disboards. Didn't want to torture myself with WDW talk when I knew I couldn't go! :sad2:

If you are hoping to get free dining, I would go with CBR. They are adding a new water play area for POFQ, but it is usually excluded from free dining.

Last time we went (Dec 16), we got free dining at POFQ, but apparently that isn't the norm. I would simply book a place and then wait for the discounts to come out. You'll need to change the reservation anyway (technically). Book the place you want and see what happens next.

For us, we love Coronado. All the areas are beautiful, and the pool is the best. Throw in the best food court (on the DDP) and you've got a winner.

Oops, yeah. I definitely missed that part. Free dining at POFQ.....those were the days. :cloud9:

Okay, OP, now my vote goes to CBR.

I have very recently stayed at three. With a two year old my vote goes to CBR for the zero entry pool and the choices at the food court. CBR is our favorite resort we love the grounds particularly the beaches and hammocks, the food court and especially the remodeled rooms. POR is our 2nd favorite resort for the atmosphere, the games room, and the rooms in alligator bayou. Both places have lots of quiet pools and we love those but probably too deep for 2yr old.

We stayed at CSR and after POR and CBR the rooms seemed very old and dated. The beds were uncomfortable and the rooms very dark. CSR is supposedly commencing remodeling though so it might depend on your timing. The pool at CSR was great but no zero entry for 2year old. We ended up leaving CSR and asking to be sent back to CBR as we loved it so much.

We got free dining at CBR, but due to the timing of our stay it wasn't available at POR.

If you can request a room with Murphy bed for your two year old at either POR or CBR.

I have never stayed at POFQ but have gone past it a few times on way to DTD, the rooms do not seem to have the atmosphere of POR or CBR, as they are 3 to 4 storeys high. And no trees or plant life.
