Help me pick a HoJo room please?

Does anyone know how they compare in size? We're either gonna do a standard NDD1 or the NQQ3, two doubles or two queens. Is one room bigger than the other or does one fit a rollaway easier? We're looking to book at the ent. rate, so either going cheapie with the standard $59 room + $10 rollaway, or just going for the kids suite IF its available. Is the kids suite worth the extra $30? It'll only be 2-3 nights, so not sure if we should suck it up and be squished, or get the suite. The kids are 7, 5 and 3.

The NDD1 rooms have oversized double beds. They are just about 3 inches less wide than a queen sized bed. There is plenty of room for a rollaway in those rooms.

The NQQ3 is a freeway facing room in Building 1, and I would be a bit worried about the noise. So even though they have queen sized beds. I would probably pick a NDD1 room between the 2 choices.

Do they have any NQQ2 rooms available? For just $10 more a night you could be in Building 2 (my favorite!) have 2 of the new heavenly style queen beds. When our kids were that age, we had them all 3 share the queen bed, but sleep on it sideways. They fit great, and I didn't have to get a rollaway! (so the price would be the same as the standard + rollaway) You also get a fridge and micro in those rooms. Just a suggestion.

THe hojo website lists all the non-suite rooms to be 356 sq feet. I have read many reviews of roll away fitting nicely in the NQQ2 and 1 rooms, so I would assume it would fit just as well in the Ndd1.
By the way, the kids suite is 538 sq feet

Our kids are 4,6 & 8. We've had lots of hotel experiences with them, and I have found that even for just an overnight trip, the stress level for everyone is MUCH less when we have a little extra room to spread out.....no tripping over suitcases, fighting for bathroom space, etc.

When we go to HOJO in November we'll be staying in a Kids' Suite because Grandma is coming along. However, we'd get the suite even if it was just the 5 of us for one main reason: the second bathroom! This is going to decrease bath time, and getting ready in the mornings and evenings should go much more smoothly. Plus, with the two bedrooms, I think we should all be able to sleep much better even though we'll be on the freeway side (we have teeth grinders and snorers in our troupe). So for us, I think the extra $30 is totally worth it.

If the Kids' Suite isn't available, I agree with the previous poster about upgrading to NQQ2. The fridge and microwave could allow you to do some of your meals and snacks outside the parks. The $$$ savings would more than cover the cost of the upgrade.

The hojoanaheim website has a pdf link to the room floor plans and square footages. I tried posting the link, but wasn't allowed since I'm a newbie. Follow the website's links to "rooms". Click on any of the room type pictures. In the description that comes up, there should be a link for the pdf. PM me if you need help finding it. Thanks so much for the input, and the link! It def helps to see the room sketches laid out. I think I will just call in house reservations on Tues. and see what is available, since I may not even have much choice. I'm really more concerned about noise than space. Our July visit at the Faifield was pretty bad. We were on the first floor in front near the lobby, so even though it was easy to get to and from the parks, we could hear everyone arriving all night and parking in the front to check in. Lots of music blaring and loud talking. Hopefully the indoor corridors at HoJo will mean less noise. Even if we are on the freeway side, at least that's more like white noise.

We had a queen double in Building 1 last week and it was on the inside. The only noise was from the air conditioner.

We were in Building 2 and it was very quiet.

When my family of 5 went in July (kids are 6, 6, and 9), we had a double queen room in Building 2 with the Ent. rate of $69. The wonderful reservation lady (Jennifer) suggested we request a corner room and put that into our reservation. Building 2 has a kind of horseshoe shape, with 2 side wings that angle away from the center wing. Where those 2 side wings angle out there is a room on the angle that gains extra sq. footage and is, I think, 50 ft larger. You don't get a balcony but you get tons of space. The bathroom is way bigger! We didn't get a rollaway because we just don't really need it--our kids do fine without--but there is loads of room for one. Jennifer said that those rooms end in '19'.

I also spent one night in mid-July with my oldest dd in a 2-doubles room ($59). It was upstairs so we had the high ceilings with skylights, and I LOVED that room!!! It had a big walk-in closet and I was thinking at the time that it would be a perfect place for a kid (or 2) to bunk. My kids would love having their own hidey-hole room.

I had a room in January that was a premium Disney-view, double queen on the next-to-the-highest floor in building one. That was my least favorite. I don't actually care about the "Disney view" (which was mainly a view of pine trees anyway) and being up that high made the freeway noise quite apparent.

I *personally* don't use the mw so that isn't a big deal to me. I do use a fridge and all the rooms have those.

Edited to say: I forgot to mention that if I could get the kids' suite, I would pay the extra money for it!

Since the subject is already out here, I was wondering whether there would be an advantage to requesting any particular Kid Suites at HOJOs.

Thank You DizMe for that awesome info! That is so helpful. I do think the kids suite would be ideal. That extra bathroom would be so helpful. I don't care about having a balcony (or microwave) either, so any room would work. And now that I think about it, I prob don't need the rollaway. We have one of those ReadyBed blow up sleeping bags- that could just go on the floor if its really that clean of a hotel. All three kids could prob fit in a queen too. Does anyone know if in house reservations are available today? Or not on holidays?

In-house reservations is open today - I just called to add a day to my February trip. I have not stayed there before but my research led me to choose Bldg. 2. Great tip about the corner rooms! There will just be 2 of us so I will leave that for someone who needs the space.

When we were at DLR at the end of May we stayed at HoJo (of course) and had one of the corner rooms. We loved it. They really are very large. We didn't mind not having the balcony and the room was very quiet. We added a rollaway for our DS 13 and there was still tons of room left.

The only thing that we didn't have in our room, that I thought was odd, was no table and chairs. I don't know if it was just a fluke or what, but we did miss having it. I didn't call and ask for one, either, it was just too much effort for us since we were only there for a short time.

We did think it was funny that we were in room "2319". My kids loved the reference to Monster's Inc.

Those large corner rooms used to be classified as "office rooms" and were in the premium category. They changed them to be just deluxe rooms now. None of them have a table and chairs so while you have extra room, there is really nowhere to sit and eat breakfast except on the beds.

I've heard lots of people request room #2319.

Thanks Lorealle! I actually checked out the videos previously. They were great, and def gave good info, just hard to see the actual room sizes. I called and made my ressies this morning- for a building 2 NQQ2 room. I requested a corner one, hope it works out. I don't know who I spoke to, but thought it was odd that they didn't know how many floors were in that building. I know some have only 2, but don't some have 7 or so? I don't want to be up that high, so I asked for a lowish floor. I'm so excited! Keeping this Jan trip a secret in case the kids are sick and we have to cancel.

Thanks Lorealle. I was just looking at the room layouts, and noticed that while some rooms show a closet, the NQQ2 doesn't. That's the type I have reserved in Nov. Does the NQQ2 have some place to hang your clothes, or is it all expected to go in drawers? Thanks; I'm looking forward to our stay.
