We'll be taking our first trip to WDW for SWW in May and I'm having a lot of trouble planning our meals. We got the DDP, and I thought we'd do 1 character meal (CRT) and 1 dinner show- just torn on which one. I've read so many conflicting reviews on everything- there doesn't seem to be a clear choice. DH & I have been to Hawaii, so the SoA seems a little cheesy; Micky BBQ- not sure kids (DS7 & DD5) would care about those characters or western theme; HDDR- again not sure about the theme. Is any one show or one meal that's a cut above the rest? Are any of these "must do's" or is it ok to skip the dinner show? Just wondering... Thanks in advance.

In my opinion the HDDR is a cut way above the other two. Great food, corny but fun and interactive show, and a great atmosphere. The free pitchers of beer alway rank high on my list too lol. :lmao: We see HDDR EVERY trip and love it!!

The HDDR is hysterical! Even if you don't go for the whole Western thing. I'd pick that one hands down!

We haven't been to the Backyard BBQ, but I've seen some really good reviews of it. We have been to the other two. We were disappointed in the SoA, but liked the Hoop Dee Do so much that we went again. Really a favorite fun time for us.

HDDR gets my vote as well. Have been there many times. Very entertaining, decent food. Haven't done Mickey's BYBBQ and SoA is a pretty awful experience, IMO.

I've been to both Spirit of Aloha and Hoop De Doo, and will be returning to Hoop for this upcoming trip. It's a fun experience if you let go and really get into it.
