Help me pick a Cruise!!

Hello---- I'm finally going to book my first Disney cruise! I've done alot of reading - so I have some good basic knowledge- but wanted some opinions on dates and cabins.....
I'm thinking of booking a 7 day cruise in early March 2005 to avoid the "Spring-break increase in prices"- however I am open to other dates as well....Any thoughts??

We are a family of 3 (Me. DH, and DS will be 5)- I'm thinking that we will get an inside room to save money- are the deluxe inside rooms worth the difference in price over the cheapest categories? Any opinions on rooms?? Thanks for your input!! Jill

Congrats on deciding on a DCL cruise! I know you will love it. I noticed on your location that you said you were in both Fl and VT. if you have a FL driver's license and other proof, you can get the magical Florida Resident Rate! It really knocks the price down. I always get a verandah because of the teriffic time I have sitting out there before going to bed. It's so peaceful and quiet, and when you dock, you can see the ship coming into the ports, which is beautiful. I book on the right side of the ship so I get that view. I think that's starboard??? Anyway, that is my advice. Also, if you don't like smoke, try to get your verandah as close to the front as possible to avoid smoke from other cabins being swept back into your room when you have the door open. I hope that helps!

If there are 3 of you I would try for my favorite type of room - the navigator veranda.

They are in the back of the ship and the area is real convenient to the Mickey pool, Topsiders, Animator's Pallete and Parrot Cay.

It is not a full plexiglass veranda like most of the ship, but rather an enclosed veranda with a large porthole opening. Instead of two chairs out there and a table there is a padded chair, small wood table and a padded bench. The walls of the veranda have maps on them and there are some small instruments out there as well.

Many with younger children have enjoyed verandas as a nice place to get away while your child naps or after putting them to bed for the evening.

To answer your original question the deluxe inside rooms have the split bath which makes it easier for familes to get ready.

I think you'll enjoy your cruise no matter what cateogry you pick!

Generally FL Resident pricing for off peak season is virtually the same no matter what week you go (of course non-holiday)....If you have your reasons to go in March, I'm sure it's a fine time...the weather is great in Caribbean, not oppressively hot, which typically starts in May, and ends early October...

Our 2 favorite times for 7-day cruises are early October (our anniv is 10/10) as well as on or about 12/15 (last off peak season pricing cruise prior to Christmas cruise....ship decorated festively for holidays, everyone in great mood, DS's school is winding down for long vacation, and the weather is great)

We are sailing on our first DCL cruise in early March this year. I will report back to you on the crowds and the weather.

Cabin choice is a matter of personal preference. Would you rather spend the money on a veranda or on something else such as excursions or shopping? Do you plan on being in the room a lot? Will DS5 be napping? My feeling is that it doesn't matter which room you are in, you are on the ship and that's what counts. Others feel differently and would not sail without a veranda.

We booked a GTY11 (Standard Inside) and have been upgraded to Category 9 (Deluxe Oceanview).

This board has been a tremendous source of information for me so stick around and you are sure to have all your questions answered.
