We have 3 kids, and when we go to DL in December they will be 7, 6, and 4. I think they are all tall enough for height requirements (I just measured my youngest at 41½" barefoot). The problem will be that my middle dd will probably be afraid to go on some of the rides that I know my older dd & ds will probably like (BTMRR comes to mind). So will we be able to wait together, one of us ride with one kid while the other waits with 2 kids, then swap adult and child?

Also, on smaller rides that are only 2 seaters will the girls (age 7 & 6) be allowed to ride together, then we'll have an adult with ds and an adult alone.

Odd number families are hard, huh? Too bad grammy can't come along with us!

It's a little different for each ride, but the CMs will tell you how to do it. What generally happens is that one parent rides with both the kids who want to go, while the other parent hangs with the non-riding kid. Then that parent gets to go with one other person. So whichever one of your two riding kids loved that ride the most can go again with you. This worked well for us, just because, for example, DD10 loved Indy and wanted to go again, while DD12 was like, "Meh. Go ahead." It generally worked out on each ride.

Or you could do it the way you described, in order to prevent fights about who gets to go again. The waiting parent rides with the other riding kid, the second time around.

We had 5, too, and we usually rode 2, 2 and 1. (the 2 older kids right in front of parent and youngest kid, other parent behind or in front of the first 2 kids). But some of the rides you can fit 3 on (HM, Pooh, Toad for example) if you squish a bit. Then we'd go 3 and 2.

Do all rides have the child swap option, or just the ones with height req?

I'm worried about getting my 2 year old on HMH and Pirates. I think they might be a little much for him. Do either of these rides offer the child swap?

i went on both with my son when he was just over a year he has never been scared of any of them but idk if hm or pirates has child swap

Usually just the ones with height requirements. DD5 didn't want to do HM, but she was fine with Pirates (as long as I warned her when Davy Jones was coming, so she could shut her eyes till we were through the mist screen).

On those rides, you usually just do your own "swap" outside the line. DH and the non-rider go get a churro and check out the jazz combo in NOS or something, while you ride those rides with the ones who do want to go. :thumbsup2

Edit: another strategy to consider is watching the video of the rides on YouTube, with your child on your lap. You can talk about how it's all "Disney Magic" and "Mickey wouldn't let anything hurt you; it's just pretend" etc. That gives them a safe-feeling way to decide beforehand if they want to see it, and you can plan accordingly. That's how DD5 decided she wasn't doing HM or Indy.
