Hi All...

I assumed this would be the best place to ask for suggestions.. I am trying to organize my Scrapbooking Room.. I have soooo many supplies.. paper, scissors, rubberstamps, stickers, ribbons and the list goes on and on..

I need to get some type of Cabinet to put my supplies in so they are not just in cardboard boxes and plastic bins..

My problem is My DH is picky what goes in the room. He hates the plastic bins I have now.. We have an old victorian home inside and out so Plastic bins don't go with the motiff (sp) of the room..

Do any of you use wooden cabinets? If so.. where did you buy them?? I have a space issue too.. I have 2 windows in the room so the cabinet needs to be 2 feet and unser and 3ft wide or less in order to fit under the window..

Anyone have some suggestions or ideas???

Thank You So Very Much...

How much money are you allowed to spend? :rotfl2:

I'd check out some local antique stores or auction houses for an old dry sink or similar piece of furniture to store your bins in.

I'm actually a lucky one... my DH never tells me what I can or can't spend.. as long as it matches the house's decore I'm good..

Dry Sink... hmmm... never thought of that.. TYVM :thumbsup2

you could try to get a "kneehole" desk - that's one with drawers each side. Or if you can find a music cabinet that would be great for your supplies as they often have shelves or deawers of different depths.

I agree with marlynnp! I would hit the antique stores too, but then I would also go to flee markets and garage sales if you have the time.

I have a friend that has an old card catalog from a library in her family room. I don't know what she has in it but it would be perfect for scrapping supplies and would go with your decor. It even has the place on the front of each drawer where you could lable what was in each drawer. I am sure she got it at an antique store.

Along that same line, banks of old mailboxes from a refurbished post office would be good for small stuff too. I have my build-a-bear clothes on a rod in the bottom of an antique washstand. An old sideboard would be good too - you could cut off the legs. OH Or a "secretary" desk. My uncle had one - had doors covering shelves at the top, a drop down desk surface with cubbies and little drawers behind it, and big deep drawers beneath.

Ooooh, now I want my parents old roll top desk. Lots of cubby holes, and big drawers, and a nice space to work, and those pull out boards for more work space. Too bad it is in Florida, and I'm not.

A lot og old Vistrola's were made into cabinet when their model was retired or could be made into one today. That wouldn't fir under window but it realtively narrow (compared to bookshelf unit or something) that could tuck into some weird spaces.

Could you use an old office cradinza? I'm sure I've not spelled that correctly but what I'm talking about is the short desks/file cabinets that are behind big office desks. They're only 2 or 3 feet tall but deep and wide. You could have one of those to set your plastic bins and boxes in. I think baskets would be nice too. They'd still look nice in your home and serve a purpose too.
Good luck
Karen

I'd love to have an old map cabinet to store my paper in :teeth:
