I am not new to the fort but I have only camped there once in a tent site 2000 loop in 2018. The rest were cabin stays. This will be my grandkids first trip that they would remember, the oldest 2 were there as infants so to me it doesn’t count. It will be me, DH, DS17 and DGS 10,9,and 6. We are renting from Meachams and requested 700 loop nearest to Pioneer Hall. We rented a golf cart. We figured being close to the bus stop may make things easier? (No stroller) we plan a lot of Fort time and will be there for a week. We plan on fishing, pool time, visiting the horse barns, chip and Dale and maybe movies( they do not stay up late). Any other suggestions? Does my loop request sound like a good plan? And is rock painting and leaving them to be found a thing? It seems to me that our last visit we found one and thought it may be a good activity to do with the boys this winter while they wait on the trip. They have also never been camping!! We are telling them Christmas. Sorry it’s a long post. So excited and just want to give them the best trip ever!!!!

Watch lots of You Tube videos that people have posted of being at the Fort for more suggestions. Your current plans are everything our grandchildren have done since they were 4 (we go every 4 years) and they loved everything. Meachams is the best to deal with and having a golf cart will let you miss having to wait at the loop bus stop to go to the main Transportation at the Outpost parking lot where you can park with other carts. You will have a blast.

Loop 400 is also a good loop to request in the same category as 700. We have stayed in 1100 (sites 1106 and 1104) and love it but any of those loops are good.

I believe 400 was my second pick. I called when I made the reservation so I could be more specific. Honestly though I would have been happy anywhere. Just overthinking it

Gem mining at the Bike Barn - but those bags of sand and "gems" are expensive!
On the other end of the spectrum, canoeing is very inexpensive though I will say that I was always paranoid of alligators! Not that I ever saw one.

I would also suggest an evening visit to the beach/boat dock area to catch the MK fireworks and the Electric Water Parade.

When exactly is the trip? Since you're telling them at Christmas, I guess it will be spring 2025?

You're a wonderful grandparent. This trip will make memories for them for sure!

Yes, we are going Aril 27- May 4. We chose the fort because they have very limited experience in hotel type atmospheres and they love the outdoors. Trying to keep the trip magical without being too overwhelming. Even though we try and take them out when we can, they don’t have much travel experience. While I have tent camped and loved it, not sure how much I would love it with all these little boys lol.
Hopefully I can keep them up late one night long enough to see fireworks and electrical water pageant. They go to bed at home super early (like ridiculous early in my opinion) but they do get up early for school so I figure most nights we will be forced to make it pretty chill at an early time to prevent crankiness. Keeping expectations low but still very excited to share this with them.

You can also borrow all sorts of sports equipment at the Bike Barn. At those ages, we would have breakfast, then I would start on lunch sandwiches , get the kids ready, go to the pool early to grab a table with an umbrella and loungers nearby, borrow a ball to play in the field, eat at the pool, come back to the trailer, eat dinner at the trailer, and then an activity per night - fireworks, movie, boat parade.

An afternoon or two, we would do a monorail hotel tour, maybe play some mini-golf if we felt like spending the money. Loop around on the bicycles or golf cart. They would play hours at the basketball courts / tetherballs that are sprinkled around. It was so fun. Definitely my favorite vacation memories at those ages!
