we are going on a short (for us) trip in december for 6 nights, 12/17 - 12/23 and i'm trying to figure out our park schedule so that i can make our ADRs when my window opens up on monday.

what we want:
AM EMH at magic kingdom and epcot. i would definitely include HS but there are none that entire week!
fantasmic package with mama melrose
MVMCP on 12/18 (have tickets)

dilemma: AM EMH for MK and epcot are on the only 2 days with fantasmic. we aren't getting park hoppers. i can't decide if it's better to skip fantasmic or forfeit EMH. help please :(

Hmmmmm... Good question.
Will you get to go to MK or Epcot any of the other days? I wouldn't skip either of those parks just to see Fantasmic.

If I was going to those parks on other days, then I'd probably skip EMH for Epcot and spend the day at DHS and do the dinner package.

Keep checking the park hours, etc... b/c they do (and most times will always) change!!!

dbf says forfeit MK AM EMH because we're spending 3 days there. i guess that's the best thing to do

I agree with dbf. What benefit is that MK EMH going to give you? More rides (IF you manage to get up and out early enough to take full advantage)? You're going to be there for three days, so you shouldn't have a problem getting in all of the MK attractions you want to experience. And EMH, especially at MK, is a crowd magnet. You'll likely get the more improved ride access simply by showing up at rope drop on the three days you are at MK, without the higher EMH crowds, than you would with one extra hour of touring time on one day.

I agree. Avoid EMH's. They are a resort guest crowd magnet. We just got back from 8 days and did not go to an AM EMH and we got everything we wanted and more. You will get more done at a park opening at 9AM than you will at a park with EMH opening at 8AM. The only way I would use AM EMH is if you were going to be at the rope for RD and you were going to plan on being out of that park by 11 AM or so for a break. Those crowds will continue to build even if people don't use the EMH they will still go to that park later int he morning.

okay, then i'm comfortable with dbf's suggestion.

so then are epcot AM EMH a bad idea? my goal is to get FP for soarin first thing and then do things like figment, nemo, and spaceship earth.

I was going to make our schedule for our upcoming trip so that we could be at DHS on a Fantasmic night. But then I watched the Fantasmic show on YouTube and realized it wasn't that great. A lot of projected cartoons and ppl mock fighting on the stage that is so far away across the water you can barely see them unless you are right down front. For me I am skipping Fantasmic. I was so disappointed after I watched it because ppl hyped it up so much like it was some fantastic awesome show you just HAD to see while you were there. But to each his own.

If you have never seen it, go to YouTube and watch it and make sure it is worth it to you to go through all that trouble to see it.

Watching the YouTube videos has helped me decide I do want to see Wishes and MSEP but not so much on Fantasmic, and possibly NOT IllumiNations if it is crowded at Epcot on the day we go.

I think Epcot EMH are more do-able than MK EMH, as long as you are there for the 8 AM opening. If you can't be there to take full advantage of the hour they are not worth it. You should easily be able to FP Soarin, Ride Soarin, and Ride Test Track within your hour then you can focus on rides like figment, nemo, and mission space come 9AM when others start arriving. From our experience Spaceship is better off being done 1:00 PM or after. Since it is right inside the park entry it generally gets the biggest crowds before noon. Save it until after lunch and you will walk right on with out a wait, again that is what we did.

I am not sure the youtube video does Fantasmic justice. We saw it as part of the dining package and absolutely loved the show and we are just two adults. Now, as good as it is it had better be really good to battle those crowds and mass chaos that ensues during a Fantasmic day at Hollywood Studios. So I would not second guess yourself on that one. I will say the show is really good in my opinion, but I would not argue with you at all trying to avoid that place all together, again it is chaotic on a Fantasmic night.
