Help me keep cool in Disney

5-I don't like the large mister fans, I try to keep the things I have to carry to a minimum. I like the small personal Coleman fans, in the camping section. They are small and fit into a fannypack/bag and create pretty good wind flow

I found these exact battery operated fans a couple of months ago in the camping section at Target. They're wonderful! They cost $3.08 (wow! what a great bargain!), and are very powerful for their small size. They're much more powerful than the typical foam-bladed fans you can buy at dolar stores and walmart. They don't take up much room in your bag, either. Great buy!

BJ's has them? I'm going to have to take a closer look next time I go. Have been considering these and cutting them up because they are pricey. How much are they at BJ's?

I bought the frogg toggs at Bj's today for $10 each. This is the cheapest I've seen them. They were in the middle aisles where the toys and camping/beach stuff are.

One more thing not mentioned....not sure how to say...but taking photos early in the day before everyone starts to melt is wise.

I recently dicovered the value of face blotter papers. ( try Sephora) They are a small thign to carry, but you could easily substitute a napkin, tissue, etc. Consider blotting your face before taking that afternoon photo to avoid shiny faces. It also matter what kind of suncreen you use. The spray can type is fine for shoulders, but for your face, consider a lotion. The standard spray can stuff makes your skin shiny.

Oh, in the summer heat, I also minimize make up. You don't want racoon eyes or that melty look that comes from too much liquid base. DO use lip sunscreen!

I didn't even think about how we will look in pictures with this heat! Adding the blotter papers to my list!

Thank you all for all this invaluable advice everyone!:thumbsup2:worship:

I've been twice in the last year, once right after Thanksgiving (perfect by the way) and once at the end of May for SWW. I have quite a few pics of me from the fall trip and only one I think from the May trip. It was taken shortly after opening on Main Street. In other words before I melted and turned bright red in the face for the rest of the day!

My trick for staying cool(er) was to locate that one air vent in each store that was blowing full blast and just hang out until I was no longer dripping all over the place. My face and head sweat like nobody's business, the rest of me is generally fine. Oh, yeah and I broke my rule of only drinking diet coke and downed at least two bottles of water to every one soda.

we went last year 9/16 to 9/29 and it was humid and hot worst eve seen that late in September so this year is October 28 to November 9 and see if cooler..

This past August, the one thing that helped me the most was walking through the stores when I felt overwhelmed by the heat. Plus, I made sure to have a water bottle in my hand at all times (except on rides, of course). I had a glass of water first thing in the morning and then again before going to bed. Don't forget to hydrate when you're in your room, resting. Oh, and a wide brim floppy hat to keep your face shaded. I find that just keeping the sun from beating down on the top of your head and face helps quite a bit, also.

will the security at the gate allow you to bring in camelback hydration packs already filled with water?

Before going on our July trip, we purchased small mist bottles (who wants to lug those huge ones around?!) that could fit in a purse or even hook on my shorts. We squirted not only our face, but arms, legs, neck, feet...any exposed skin (front and back) and that definitely helped keep us cool.

We (adults) also enjoyed running under the Casey Jr. Splash area @ MK...;)

I'm not sure if people posted these tips yet, but heres my two sense, from someone that has been to disney in july 3 years in a row!
-STAY HYDRATED. drink, drink, and drink. preferably water and avoid drinks with caffeine (they cause dehydration). Seriously, it'll help you feel a lot better when you are out in the heat. Even if you don't feel thirsty, just keep drinking!!!
-wear a hat while in the sun. And a large floppy hat at that. It'll keep the sun off your head/neck which will definately help to keep you cool
-it should be a given, but PLEASE wear sunscreen, nothing is worse than having a burn in the heat. and reapply if you go on water rides/after a few hours. this ones just as important as staying hydrated
-enjoy all the air conditioning WDW has to offer! many attractions are air conditioned, as well as restaurants, gift shops, and even bathrooms and monorails/buses. Grab a fastpass for a ride that has an outdoor queue and enjoy a gift shop or indoor attraction so you dont get overheated standing in line.

But most importantly, pace yourself, if at any point someone feels too warm STOP IMMEDIATELY and cool off. Its not worth the ride or the character. Remeber to be safe, aware, and enjoy the best part of disney HAVING FUN!!!
