We leave for WDW on Friday after work/school. We'll be driving down and arriving on Saturday evening. We're staying at Orbit One Vacation Villas, same place we stayed last year.

For some reason, I'm not all that excited about going, at least not yet.

I thought about it and think I pretty much know why. My office has been really busy the past couple of months so I've just been mentally drained by the end of the day.

Also, this past weekend we had our annual adult retreat from our synagogue. This year, for the first time, DW and I were in charge of the weekend so I've spent many hours recently preparing for that. It was great and we all had a really good time, but again, it's been mentally draining.

I guess I just haven't had the energy to look forward to the trip. And since we just got back from the retreat yesterday and have to leave again 5 days later, getting packed and ready for the trip seems like somewhat of a chore. I'm sure I'll be excited once we're on our way and certainly when we get there, but right now I feel like I'd rather veg on the sofa.

Just pack your basic clothing and ammenities, drive down there listening to some good singable music, and relax at the pool. Order a drink and take your mind off of work.
It's your time to relax and enjoy after your hectick month.
Have a fun time.

Don't worry about spending a lot of time planning and packing and thinking. Throw some clean underwear, socks, t-shirts, shorts and a swim suit in a bag. When your mind is cluttered up with work issues, you don't need any more stress even if the stress is associated with fun.

You'll have a great time once you get here and get your mind off of work. Whatever you do, do not bring any work with you! Trust me! I know you'll be happy in a week! ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo :wizard:

I wouldn't TRY to get excited about your trip. If you do, you'll only stress about why you're not excited. It's a vicious cycle. I'd just relax as much as you can between now and then, don't worry if you're not excited - believe you me, you'll get excited when you get there!! Don't feel bad - just relax and go with the flow.

The excitement will come. We went to WDW in April, after litterally a week from hell, and several months that weren't so hot either. The week leading up to the Saturday that we left, we dealt with serious shooting threats against mine and my sister's school (many sleepless nights), and I finished a term paper at midnight the morning we left. Finished packing around 1 am, since that week all my energy had been put into that paper. Then there were the months of illness (me), the months of stress from college apps (me again) and I dont even remember what else. We've had other trips where we left days after family members were admitted to the hospital, and after months of dealing with medical problems among all the grandparents/aunts/uncles, etc. The stress takes its toll. But honestly, the minute you hit the warm air and see those Mickey arches, it all just goes away. Have fun, enjoy your trip and don't worry about getting excited. You will in time.

How true. We always spend our first evening at DTD. Since we stay offsite, getting onsite lets us know we've arrived. Walking around DTD always puts at at ease immediately. We always say to each other that we feel at home there.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Just picturing us walking around DTD makes me feel better already.

Steve if you haven't experienced Soarin' it's one of the great WDW attractions. That alone should get you psyched. :earsboy:

Actually, we made our first ever trip to DL/DCA in August and experienced Soarin' there - 3 times as I recall. I'm sure we'll ride it in Florida as well, and be sure to ask for a top row seat.

OK Steve, I'll try again ;) You are about to enter a land where you can have quality time with your family. No cell, no email(unless you want it), no pager. Your biggest problems are about to be: Can we ride Test Track before our ADRs at Le Cellier? Should I get DW the ring she saw at the shop for a gift? If we miss Wishes tonight can we see it tomorrow? These are the kinds of issues that make me forget about the "real world". :earsboy:

Don't get me wrong. I have absolutely no doubt that I'll love every minute of our trip - heck, this will be my 24th, DW's 17th and DD's 13 visit. We all love the place.

I think one more good nite's sleep tonite to catch up from the past week and I'll be more relaxed and in the pre-vacation groove. I just checked the extended forecast and it looks like it will be in the 80's all week. That means I can start packing tomorrow since we're well past shorts weather around here.

See, I'm more excited already. Thanks everybody.
