Good Morning Disers,
I am no longer excited about my upcoming trip in Oct to WDW...I found out that there was a $600 difference if I were to change from CSR to the All Star resorts...Well my TA called yesterday to make the change and both POP and ASMo were booked leaving only Music or Sports available...well now that I found there is such a difference in price I cannot justify changing back to CSR, I want the extra money, however, I am sick about not getting into POP or the one I really wanted for my 2 yo DS ASMo...I got online last night at disneyworld.com and both resorts showed availability for the first week of October so I called them and got a great CM who explained that because of the free-dining package that the room numbers were limited...I am almost thinking of giving up the free-dining to stay at ASMo???? I don't know what to do, I am absolutely sick about it, I don't want to stay at ASMu, any positive thoughts on that resort would be great, you guys always cheer people up...I am just almost not wanting to go now, I guess I can just pray and hope :confused3 :confused3 that one of the resorts has a cancellation?????? Just wanted some input from you guys, I was the OP of the ASMo thread asking about positive's on that resort and got all pumped up on that one and so excited about seeing it, and then my TA (who has been awesome) tells me they are booked..... :cold:
Thanks guys,
Kristy

O.k.- first of all-you are going to Disney. That is enough reason to be dancin'
But I do understand about having your heart set on staying somewhere & being disappointed in having to go somewhere else. I think with her being 2 she would like all of the All Star resorts so you just need to decide if it is worth is for you to give up free dining. I dont have any info about the resorts, just wanted to cheer you up.

It will all work out and you will have a fabulous time no matter where you stay!

Thank you, I appreciate it...you are right!!! It is Disney, my heart just aches a little bit right now, you know??
Kristy

You are going to have an absolute great time! Don't worry that you didn't get ASMo. ASMu will be wonderful too! My DS 2 loves going to the pool, any pool, and ASMu has a wonderful one. Your DS will will love the whole Disney experience. If you really think he would like it, you could visit ASMo and let your DS look around. It is amazing to see the super-large icons but he'll be at Disney and will be around the "theming" for the whole time you are there!

Save your money (and use the free dining!) and have a wonderful trip!
Dawna

I was thinking too that first off you ARE going to Disney so that part is still good. :cool1: I bet your 2 yr old will be wowed no matter which of the All Stars you stay in. I would try to scout trip reports, photos here and at other sites, and reviews of ALL Star Sports and Music and I bet you'll start feeling better. I wouldn't cancel the dining plan but that is just me. Hope you feel better :wizard: :goodvibes

Stay at All Star Music. It is just across the parking lot from All Star Movies.
When you stay at the All Stars you can use the pools at all of The All Star resorts.
Movies also has pop up fountains your little one will enjoy.
My advise is to request building 7 or 8 as those are the closet to All Star Movies.

I love All Star Music.
Donald is waiting at the pool. The Gift shop is called Maestro Mickey.
There is a big Mickey Icon at the enterence
Here is a site with a map of All Star Sports and All Star Music.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/allstarmap.htm
Scroll down. All Star Music is at the bottom of the page.
The Calypso buildings at All Star Music are #1 and #10 are nearest to the food court and bus stop.
They are the preferred buildings and cost about $12 extra per night.
The Calypso pool at ASMU has Donald Duck.

Have a great time at Disney!
Linda

O.k, if you don't want to go, can I go ????

Why are you so disappointed? You will be staying on WDW property, you will get to experience EMH,Magical Express(if you fly). free DINING!!!!!

Did I miss something? Your son is 2? I don't think you will spoil him for life, if you go to AS resort instead of POP.

For what it's worth We have been to the Music resort and it is absolutely beautiful, your son will love the pool, and they have a kiddie one too!

I would NOT give up free dining just to go to the POP...just my opinion. Go for a visit on an off day. You'll get the feel of the place and can go on another trip when they don't offer the free dining......or maybe if they do offer it again, you can make your plans sooner....

So....can I take your place????LOL

Go and enjoy. As adults you have the ability to form opinions and judgements about the relative merits of various resorts. A two year old does not have that ability. Your child is not likely to remember much if anything about this trip years from now, but will be absorbed and delighted by all the new sights, sounds, and activities at which ever resort you choose. It is the experience of having fun as a family and being surrounded by love that will make the greatest inpression on your little one, and you can do that at any of the Disney resorts.

She will probabaly be wowed wherever you stay on site. ASMu has cool theming and if you go with a good attitude, your little one won't ever know the difference. I think the parks themselves have the magic. My DD stayed at ASMu when she was 4 for her first trip. Only memory she has of the accomodations was the Three Caballeros in the pool. Everything else she remembers about the trip happened in the park gates. Have a great time!!!!

HI, I THINK THAT YOU WILL HAVE A GOOD TIME NO MATTER WHICH ALL STARS RESORT....I THINK MUSIC IS SUPPOSED TO BE QUITER THAN SPORTS. PLUS I HAVE READ POSTS THAT IF YOU STAY AT THE ALL STARS YOU CAN WALK OR RIDE THE BUS TO THE OTHER ALL STARS .....WHY NOT VISIT MOVIES FOR A SWIM AND TAKE A LOT OF PICTURES OF YOUR KIDS WITH ALL THE MOVIE ICONS??
I ALSO HAD WANTED THE ALL STAR MOVIES BUT ONLY COULD GET SPORTS FOR MY TRAVEL DATES....TOOK THE SPORTS BUT CALLED (I KNOW ITS SAD) EVERY SINGLE DAY TO SEE IF MOVIES HAD ANY AVAILIBILITY....AND GUESS WHAT? :goodvibes AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS, IT DID HAVE AVAILIBILTY...MAYBE A CANCELLATION??? I WAS IN THE SAME SITUATION AS YOU AND DEBATED ABOUT GIVING UP FREE DINING TOO...BUT DON'T DO IT..THE DINING WILL SAVE A TON OF MONEY!!! TAKE THE MUSIC OR SPORTS FOR NOW AND KEEP CALLING TO CHECK FOR AVAIL. ON THE MOVIES!!

Forgive me for not understanding...I've never been...going the first time in Oct. So what's the big whoopie about one resort to the other, especially a 2 yr old who's going to be thrilled with a piece of bright colored paper on the sidewalk more than the fireworks up in the sky :rotfl2: Okay, sorry, talking about my own kids with the attention span of a gnat...

I thought Pop was for the old fogeys who like to remember the good ol' days when people actually DIALED a phone :rotfl2: figured that's why my SIL put us there :rotfl2: we're supposed to explain all this stuff or something :rotfl:

I would gladly exchange my ressie with you since I love music but I'm not going until the end of Oct.

Two years from now when you ask your kid what they remembered about the trip, you will be amazed at the answer you get, I promise! Enjoy! You're going to Disney!

Hey disneygirl, hope today is a brighter day for you. You have been in the back of my mind and hope you won't let something like a silly little room ruin what should be a great trip for you!

kristy... we stayed at ASp when my ds was 2.5 yo and he LOVED it! STILL (6 years later) talks about the big sports icons... the basketball section just wowed him beyond belief... moreso than movies would have 'cause he was not familiar w/all those movies but he recognized all the sporty stuff!

as the other posters said... it will be magical no matter where you stay... people actually stay :gasp: off site and enjoy their vacations ;) i am sure it will be wonderful... and think of all the memories that extra $600 will help you make :flower:

Keep trying -- you may find a cancellation has opened up the resort you really want. Free Dining has encouraged a lot of people to book a trip they didn't have money set aside for.

You should be happy to be going to Disney, and at a great price! But it doesn't hurt to keep trying and see if something opens up!

Good Luck!

And keep in mind that your DS will not be thinking in terms of, "Oh I wish we were staying at the hotel with the movie icons!". All he will know is that you will be staying in the coolest hotel in the entire world. He won't be comparing it to anything else. Can you imaging being 2yrs old and seeing giant musical instruments all around you? He'll be in heaven!

And don't forget......there is a whole wonderful world (the parks :goodvibes )outside the hotel that he will be experiencing too!

Think in terms of his experience and you will have an absolutely MAGICAL time!!!! :wave2:

We booked our trip in June with the free dinning offer the first time. We had our hearts at staying at ASMo and could not get in there for the same reasons you stated. We had to book at ASMu and were upset too. By time I got over it my brother got into POP with the free dinning the second time around and I called my TA and complained. She got us in ASMo.
So I would just try again!

I agree with Dawna. It's easy to be disappointed when you have planned the details for so long :sad1: , but my DD 8, just returned from ASMu with her Dad. She had wanted to stay in ASMo, but it wasn't available at booking. She wanted me to know first thing, that ASMu was AWESOME! :cloud9: She said she was glad they stayed there. I realize a 2yo would be wowed by the huge icons at ASMo, but you could just as easily visit the resort to see the icons. Hope this helps? :flower3:

You still have today and tomorrow to find an opening. And with the program ending and a lot of people giving up ressie's you have a great chance!

My cousin had the same problem, exactly, and only tried 4 times until an opening came up. Try a couple of times an hour (and online too, I've found availability online when a CM told me there was none). I am fairly positive you can get it changed. Also talk to a CM about changing after the 20th. They are usually very helpful.

In any event, the positive is, you are going to Disney and you will have an extra $600 to spend!!

I have stayed at ASM and it was just fine. Besides, your 2YO won't even remember this trip (in the long run) with the exception of pictures that you'll share for years to come. Have fun,... relax,... take a chill-pill! Have a Disney day! :cool1:
