Help me get engaged

Something truelly unique - http://www.giftsofalifetime.com/ - they can do some amazing and creative things at WDW. Jane and her staff are wonderful people and could help you plan an unforgettable event.

I've heard of some service that they have in the MK where you set it up waaay in advance. You go to see WISHES (the fireworks) and you are led to a "special viewing area" on the grass. They have flowers and a table and champagne set up for you. I have no idea how much it costs or how you plan it but really it doesnt get much better than: magical castle at night, fireworks, roses, champagne, and the one you love on one knee. O yea and the pretty little diamond ring isnt too bad either! ;)

Good Luck! You also might want to check on the wedding board. I know they have a thread about proposal stories that might help you.

I have read on other posts that you can have a photographer with you.
Does any one know where I can call? Also thanks for the great Ideas, I have called for illuminations cruise and they only except 90 days in advance.

What is most romantice spot in disney in your opinion? So far all I am hearing is the Castle is this the only romantic spot? Are there any out of the way?

Does any body know how I can get on stage to propose in fron of a large crowd?

What about romantic resturants? Which resturants can help me out and who would i call?

"Wishes" (the nightly fireworks show)? It is a very moving show and going down on one knee with a ring would be great! Especially if you can get a good spot in front of the castle.

GOOD LUCK and congrats!

That what I did with my girlfriend (fiance) in 2003. Right in front of the castle right as Fantasy in the Sky was ending.

You could also propose on the Beach at the Poly after WISHES, that would be romantic. You could also do Narcoossees at the Grand Floridian or the California Grill at the Poly; they are both restaurants where if you get a PS at the correct time you can see WISHES, they dim the lights in the restaurants, and play music that corresponds with the fireworks show.

You know what I just thought of that would be cute? I'm not sure how would pull it off, but... they have the pearl in the oyster stands at the Beach Club and in DTD. You could put your ring inside a cleaned out oyster shell, either glue it back closed or put a rubber band around it, and have the CM save it behind the counter for you (Clearly do this not very long before you are planning on proposing). Then you could tell your gf you want to get her a ring. Take her over there, have her pick an oyster out of the buckets. Then have the CM do a quick little switch of the oysters. As they open up the oyster they ring this huge bell three times and scream ALOHA! (so it draws quite the attention) and then instead of finding a pearl inside she'll find an engagment ring and her bf on one knee. (A slight variation of this could be instead of placing the ring in a real oyster shell I know somewhere they made jewelry boxes shaped like oyster shells b/c I have one) This does however cut down a little bit on the suprise.

Another Great idea is to watch Wishes and wait until the park closes. If you know anything about the magic kingdom, you'll know that when it closes, Main Street and all the way up to the castle stays open for at least an hour or so. The crowd thins out to nearly nothing to begin with on Main St. but up at the castle it's non existent. Go up to the castle, all the way up to the walkway between and stay up at the top of the fencing at the front of the castle and propose. You kneel facing the castle leaving her overlooking main street, since you are up higher.

Also you could talk to a CM and find out when a "kiss goodnight" is scheduled and then go up the castle and when it begins, pop it on her during the final part of it when the music cranks up to the song "When you Wish Upon a Star".

I know I know, just call me Romeo.

Port Orleans Riverside has horse drawn carriage rides, very romantic, I think! Great idea if you like something a bit more private.
good luck!

Gifts of a Lifetime offers a photography service. They will follow you around the park and take pictures of you.

As far as getting on stage..hmm...I'm not sure. Didn't someone here on the DIS propose right before the Beauty and the Beast show? I have no idea who you would contact about that.

This really moves me! I think we have a winner!!!!!

WOW I am in love..... ... Maybe I can do it every night! :earseek:

My DSis was an event planner for Disney and she helped plan and witness several proposals and weddings. The proposal that sticks out in my mind is...

Disney had set up a sofa on a small carpet right in front of the caste. There was a small table with roses and champagne. This was all after hours by the way. The park was empty. The couple was led down Main St. to the castle. After he proposed, a bunch of their family and friends came out of hiding. My DSis said it was very romantic.

Have no idea how much this would cost or who you would contact. WDW-Play is probably a good place to start.

Good Luck

I vote for the Castle or Cinderella's Royal Table. It's a true Disney thing to do and it sounds so romantic.

Good luck!

Just came across your posts! We are going on land/sea in a few weeks so I have been browsing the boards. Anyway, we are from NY, and married 7 years. We got engaged at the Macys Thanksgiving day parade. As the parade was approaching, us, my husband said he had to go to the bathroom. A few minutes later, as the clowns were passing by, one stopped right in front of me, and got down on one knee and proposed. I finally realized it was my husband when he spoke and asked if I would marry him. He had a clown costume in a bag that he had in a designated area. He went and changed into it, and the police let him join in with the other clowns in the parade after he showed them the ring. Of course this was pre-9/11 when security was different. I was so shocked and surprised that fter all this time, I get the biggest smile thinking about it. Maybe you could arrange something like that with the folks at Disney. Good luck to you!!!!!

My two-cents here is an addition to the Wishes idea. If it was me, I would want it to be during Wishes because it is all about wishes coming true. The first time I saw Wishes, the part that made me cry was hearing all the characters making wishes, because they were wishes that came true for them. I think you should listen to the Wishes music and get familiar with it if you are going to propose during it -- the perfect time would be when Snow White says "I wish, someday my prince would come." I think most girls would die over that.

OMG - how romantic! I don't have any proposal ideas but I can tell you the most romantic thing DH and I have ever done at Disney World - or anywhere else for that matter.

We stayed at AKL and I arranged a couples massage in our room and then a private supper on our balcony through room service (it's called the Sunset Dinner Package at AKL.) I have no idea where you are staying but if you could do something like this during the trip it would be fabulous! Good luck! Your future finace is a very lucky girl!
