I need to paint my hallway and keep picking out the same color I have now no matter where I go, which is ridiculous but I keep doing it. what I have is the color of Coffee Haagen Daz ice-cream, brown but leaning towards the purple family.

I want something in the chocolate family with more of an orangey tint, like clay. Dark enough to hide a countless number of my kids friends handprints but not so dark that the hallway will be unpleasant.

If anyone has anything like this I would appreciate a name sooooooooo much, even if you have an idea. I'm stuck

The Benjamin Moore Historical collection may be a good place to start. All the colors have depth and warmth and there are a bunch in the color range. Good Luck!

Not exactly brown, but I painted one of my bathrooms Baked Terra Cotta by Benjamin Moore. On the website is has a slightly pinkiish cast, but on the walls it doesn't look that way. I really like it and have gotten lots of compliments on it.

Martha Stewart's SMOKE BLUSH ROSE (msl 172) or HEATHERED MOOR (msl 173)? The first is lighter but both are browns with purplish tones.

I just happen to be sitting here with a gajillion paint charts:hippie:

Sorry, what you are describing sounds too dark for me!
Most of our walls are a light chocolate milk or Cafe Latte color (no orange or yellow...) Looks great.

I just wanted to say that if you want a quality paint that covers and is washable after the kids... DON'T go to Lowes.... :sad2:

We've been using the higher quality Behr... :thumbsup2

My whole house is Valspar churchhill hotel wheat (from Lowe's). The perfect neutral color IMO (and I painted ceilings and all the same color and don't feel that it's "dark" at all in my house). I used the satin latex (I think....I'm too lazy to go run and look), but it wipes fingerprints, etc. super easy!

We've had no problems with the Valspar paint from Lowe's. :confused3Painted going on two years ago and the house still looks fresh and the Valspar satin wipes easy. Just don't go with a FLAT paint. NONE of those wipe easy.

Your post made me think of my old thread here...

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1705855

and it's bumped now as I wanted to comment on the last post. I am a picture person so I loved seeing all the colors people posted and it helped me choose. I ended up using Benjamin Moore "Coppertone" in my family room, as you can see eventually in the thread, and I really love it. I doesn't look as orangy as it does in the pics, and it's very warm. Makes me think of caramel. :goodvibes

But there are also many other lovely colors on the thread!

Thank you all so much! Today I am going to go out and try to collect samples of the suggestions. elizke that you for posting a link to that other thread, lots of beautiful colors :thumbsup2
