Ugh...I broke a molar last Friday, and can't get it pulled til July 21st. (Apparently there's a mad rush of extractions?:lmao:) Yeah, I live in a small area with few specialists I guess.
The stupid tooth is a root canal tooth and split right down the middle. You wouldn't think it would hurt, right? It's generally a dull ache til I forget and chew on that side :confused3. And, if I'm chewing on the other side, it hurts because I guess the basic chewing motion aggravates it or something crazy.
I've been making smoothies with yogurt, and frozen fruits, but those're gonna get real old for the next 21 days. So, give me some ideas please of things to eat that I don't really have to put a lot of chewing effort in on.
However, since friday I've lost 3 lbs, so by the 21st I should be quite svelt....:rotfl
thanks!!!!

Pudding, mashed potatoes, jell-o?

I broke a tooth that had a root canal done it and it hurt sometimes too. Didn't make sense to me either.

What about scarmbled eggs, mac 'n cheese, hot dogs, applesauce, cheese?

thanks guys, I was having a brainfreeze and seriously I guess I'm just in a funk about this darn tooth. I'm making a list!

Butternut squash with cheese

Yummy soups (french onion, beer cheese, ect)

Curry or chutney

Polenta

Oatmeal (homemade with fruit, cream, and sugar can be sooo good)

Chocolate mug cake

OOOO stuffing! If it were me I would be eating nothing but stuffing!

Ouch! It hurts just reading your description.

Hmm, I'm not seeing very many protein choices. How about very well cooked stews? All the ingredients soften up quite a bit when simmered for a very long time, even the meats. Make enough gravy so there's lots of gravy to have with rice.

Lots of soups. Again simmer for a long time.

Protein powder shakes might be a good substitute to ensure you get enough protein.

Homemade smoothies! Put some fruit in the blender with yogurt (frozen or reg.), juice and ice. You can even add protein powder for an extra boost. If you have any good smoothie shops near by, now would be a good time to try them!

Call them back !
I work for a dentist no way would we let someone with a broken tooth go that long! Extractions take about 10 minutes even a broken tooth shouldn't take very much longer. Ask them to put you on a waiting list for cancellations if they don't keep one call every day and ask.

Good luck !
Wish you lived close to me

PS the pain you're feeling is probably the broken tooth moving around and
pressing on other nerves, but a root canal tooth can still get infected.

Rice dishes - many quick-to-fix flavors available
Soups
Mashed potatoes and gravy
Oatmeal
Deviled eggs - or deviled egg sandwiches if they're not too hard to chew
Pancakes
Well cooked pasta dishes
Tuna fish
Egg salad
Cream of mushroom soup over toast
Grilled cheese - if you can chew a sandwich
Pudding
Tapioca
Hamburger Helper dishes
Pork and beans - with hot dogs cut up really fine
Cottage cheese

That's all I can think of right off the top of my head..:goodvibes

Are you sure you can't see someone before then? That's a long time to wait..:(

Be careful of bread it increases in density when you chew it up, we've had patients break teeth on bread. I broke one myself on a PBJ many years ago.

My DH is a dentist. He recommends keeping a piece of sugarless gum over the tooth to protect it from pain when you eat or drink. Just try to chew on the other side. I have some tooth sensitivity and the gum really helps.
And yeah, I would call back.

Sandy

soup
pasta of all varieties
pudding
veggie cooked until soft
ground beef (like taco meat)
rice
oatmeal
scrambled eggs/omelettes
pancakes
tuna salad

My dd just got her braces on and has been living on pudding, scrambled eggs and her favorite pastina:thumbsup2

This! And then I would eat mashed potatoes every day.

When I had my wisdom teeth out many years ago, my mom would make gravy and biscuits and eggs and bacon and put it all in the blender.
She didn't blend it to death - just until everything was small enough that it really didn't need chewed.
It was soo good!
I still crave that! :goodvibes
(hey and i don't have dinner plans yet...:rolleyes1)

Call back and emphasize that you are in pain. I can't imagine them making you wait that long for an extraction! And I've had several broken teeth extracted. Absent any complications it only takes about 10 minutes.

But if you need soft foods, you've gotten several good suggestions. I would personally live on ice cream if the cold didn't bother me!

I would do protein shakes to keep up your energy.
Also, if you like refried beans they are high in protein as well. I would mix them with some shredded cheese and even some salsa. Yummm.
