Help me find a neighborhood...

A while ago we were looking at neighborhoods in the Orlando area, probably about 4 to 5 years ago. We came across one that had homes built similar to the ones in Celebration, with the little picket fences around them. Now, it looks as though we have to relocate because of a job. Do any of you in the area know the name of the neighborhood I am looking for? It had a huge park, lake and other features. I know there are several neighborhoods.

Any help is appreciated,

Tracy

Do you have any clue what part of town it might have been located in? Near Disney, near Downtown? N, S, E, W?

How did you find it?

Where would the job be?

Baldwin Park? Harmony? Reunion? Independence?

Lakes are a dime a dozen around here.... ;)

We found it on the internet a while ago. The job would be close to the airport. I want to find a good, safe area. :)

How far from the airport? DH has a job right across from the airport and we live in Brevard County- East coast of Florida. It is about a 30 - 40 minute drive but a really nice area. There are quite a few cities not far from the express way to help shorten the commute. Melbourn, Suntree, Viera, Rockledge. Plus, it is only 20 minutes from the beach, 30 minutes from Kennedy Space center or the Port.

Unfortunately, you are going to have to be more specific. There are hundreds of neighborhoods in Orlando. It is the 27th largest metro area in the US. Add the suburbs and you are into the thousands.

There are several more obvious ones that diznygirl posted but from what you gave us it is kinda the old needle in a haystack thing.

Sorry. We really are trying to help. It just you haven't really given us much to go on.

From WikiPedia here is a list of Orlando neighborhoods - this doesn't include any suburbs.

Thanks, everyone. It think it might have been Independence. The houses do look similar as to the ones in Celebration, which is what I was looking for.

Anyway, this is all very crazy and sudden. Do you like living in the Orlando area?

Me personally, not really. It is ok. Not the worst place I have lived (been in 7 states) but it isn't the best either.

We obviously like Disney and the theme parks in general but otherwise I'm pretty unimpressed by the area. I sound very cranky about it, I know. I just ....I don't know. I don't think I'm a "good fit" for the city.

There are some neighborhoods in Winter Park like you describe, but it's not close to the airport.

We loved living in Winter Park. We would move back there in a flash, given the chance.

My parents live south of the city. They like where they live because it's far enough out from the tourist areas that they don't have to deal with that every day, but it's close enough that whatever they want, it's close by.

BUT, if it's by the airport that he's working, I wouldn't recommend where they're at, it'd be an hour + commute daily.

About 5 years ago, Avalon Park was doing some extensive advertising and many people were comparing it to Celebration. Possibly you looked at that neighborhood.

I was going to suggest Avalon Park. It's very convinent to the airport as well. We were looking there a few months ago and accessiblity to the airport was important for us.

My first thought was Independence, which is about 5-10 minutes NE of the back of the Magic Kingdom. Houses look like smaller-scale versions of Celebration.
