Okay, I just called Disney to get a quote on their MYW package w/ dining.
This would be what my budget would look like with my bdp code:

$781.00 POR 7 nights/6 days bdp code
200.00 Gas
400.00 Souvenirs
750.00 Food
722.00 MYW base tickets that do expire
Would equal= 2,853 for 2 adults and 2 kids

Edited to add: We were planning to pay 3,000 ....but If I bought tickets a ticketmania then it would be about $150 cheaper.

My mom is coming with me so I had them quote 3 adults, 2 kids at POR

She quoted me as being $3,016.09 which includes all of our tickets, dining, and hotel. So, if I add souvenirs and gas then its $3,616.09. I was going to have mom pay for her own food, tickets, and souvenirs..so its about 800.00 difference. What should I do? I mean if my mom were to pay for her food, tickets, and souvenirs how much would she expect to pay for 6 days/7 nights?

So, without the package you'll pay:

781.00 POR 7 nights/6 days bdp code
200.00 Gas
400.00 Souvenirs
750.00 Food + roughly 250.00 for Mom's food
722.00 MYW base tickets that do expire + 212.00 for Mom's ticket (Disney's price)
Would equal= 3315 for 3 adults and 2 kids

About 300 less to do it on your own than with the package. It does depend upon how much and where you plan to eat to some extent. We wouldn't spend that much on food, but I tried to go with what you already had budgeted to estimate your Mom's food budget. I figured on one table service meal at $35, one counter service meal at $10, and one snack at $5 per day, just like with the dining plan x 7.

I have 4 priority seatings so far( Chef Mickey's, Ohana's, Restaurant Marrakesh, and Le Cellier)..We might do more sitdown restaurants w/o getting a ps or we may do just counter service after the 4 ps'.

Thinking.....

If we paid rack rate for POR for 7 days it would be 134x7=938.00

938.00 rack rate
976.62 3 adults and 2 kids myw base tickets
35x3x7 + 20x7= 875 for 3 adults and 2 kids dining
So the total would be = 2,789.xx

I was quoted 3,016.09 but how did Disney get that price or what am I missing?
I've asked Dis'ers here and most people say I need at least 100 a day for food for 2 adults and 2 kids so I'd be looking at 700-750 and then my mom is paying separately for her food so maybe 450 for her food?

You can look at the menus HERE. That's the best way to determine a food budget, I think. Just look at the places you're interested in, take a guess at what you might normally order, and add it all up. If you're figuring 750 for 2 adults/2 kids for 7 days, which is about right, then your mom won't need 450 herself. An average counter service meal for an adult with a drink will be under $10, under $15 with dessert. The cost of table service meals varies so that's harder to estimate without knowing where you want to eat and what/how much.

I think you forgot to add the taxes to that 938.00...so it would be 1046.00. Then, I think there's a charge for an extra adult in the room, $15/night plus tax...that would be an additional $100, bringing the room total to about 1146.00. That brings it to pretty close to the quote you got, right?

I think the key is the food budget. Take a look at the menus and see what you come up with. That will give you a better idea of where you stand with the package!

Edited to add: I've read that many times when you add the extra adult at check-in you aren't charged the extra adult fee!

I think that if I went with the myw package we would be eating more sitdown restaurants just because we can. I was worried that 750 might be enough and for $90 a day for us 4 it guarantees a sitdown, counter service, and snack so I think that would be good for us. But, I keep hearing people say that its not a good deal...so I'm frustrated..wondering what I should do. Dh was going to give me money to buy our tickets tomorrow and I don't know which way to go lol :charac2:

It is difficult to decide. The dining plan is definitely a good deal, especially if you would enjoy having a table service meal each day (we do). However, you have to decide if the savings will offset the cost of paying rack rate for your room. Maybe it will. Or maybe the convenience will be worth it. It doesn't sound as if it's a really large amount of money, and as you said, it will give you more dining options without worrying about going over budget. You can also use the dining plan for more expensive, sit-down dinners, instead of lunches/breakfasts. That would give you even more value for your dollar. Just think how much a dinner can run at LeCellier, or even Chef Mickey's for a character dinner. The one meal alone would be more than the cost of the package, once tax and tip are taken into consideration.

Do you want to possibly save a couple hundred dollars? Or worry less and eat more? LOL (I think you would be looking at around $350 savings, at most, by doing it yourself, and then you'll probably be eating less table service.) If you can afford it, then I would go with the package! Mmmm...think of all the great meals you'll have, LOL! :cloud9:

I can't match Disney's quote but I can get close. You need to add 11.5% tax on the room and 6.5% tax on the dining. As well wouldn't there be an extra $15 per night for the extra adult in the room. If I add that in I go over Disney's quote so who knows.

Before you make the decision, have you double checked which restaurants are covered in the MYW? I think that's a biggie.
Other than that I would definitely go for it. We have found that with 2 adults and 2 children we can easily spend $60-$90 for a sit down meal.
Our stays are for around 4 weeks so we rent a house but if we stayed on site we would definitely do the MYW.
