We get to make our ADRs in a week. We will have the regular dining plan and will be entitled to 6 table service meals. We are staying at the Boardwalk with base tickets. It is myself, DH, DS5, DD1 and both of our mothers. I've been planning/plotting away since I got the park hours and just realized today that we have an extra meal. I really don't want to pay OOP for that extra meal since me and DH will be eating out alone one night OOP.

So here is what I have:
Teppan Edo Dinner
Tusker House B'fast
Crystal Palace Dinner
Akershus B'fast
Rose & Crown Dinner
T-Rex Dinner (since it's now officially on dining plan)
Cape May Buffet B'fast

The only two that are "must do's" are Teppan Edo and Akershus.

Which one should I drop?

If you are getting the fish and chips at Rose & Crown, you could switch to the counter service there. We are doing that this time.

We have the same trouble. We have 2 extra table services. What I did was look up the menus and I tried to choose the least expensive table services on my list to pay OOP. For me, I've looked forward to this trip for 2 years so we will go ahead and keep the extra two.

Hi I would drop the dinosaur meal. I never went but I heard it is very loud. If it is like rainforest cafe, it may be too loud for your youngsters. We did Akershus and crystal palace before - enjoyable and grea since they are in parks.

Funny...R&C and T-Rex were the two I was debating between. I'm leaning towards dropping T-Rex b/c of the loudness. We went when my son was almost 3 and he loved it, but Annie is more sensitive about sounds.

You've made some nice choices. I'm a big fan of the R&C. The atmosphere (and the beer) are really special there. And I think the food is quite good.

Maybe I'm reading too much but after reading the bad Crystal Palace Dinner reviews, its making me think that is the one I should drop. Hmmm... :confused3

I would keep them. That way, if you decide to "call an audible" and skip a meal because you are tired, etc., it's no big deal. The additional flexibility may be worth it. If you end up going to all of them, just pay for the last one OOP.

Of all of your existing ADRs, I'd drop TRex like a hot potato. I know some families with youngish children like it, but if your children don't like a lot of noise then this is not the place for them. And I'm not sure the mothers would really enjoy it. (At least I'm able to turn my hearing aid down!:rotfl2::rolleyes1:rolleyes:)

I'd pick T-Rex. It is owned by Rainforest Cafe which is a chain, so I found T-Rex to be very chain-like and not much different than RC.

Second choice would be Rose & Crown. We ate there one night during Illuminations and had a pretty long wait to be seated. Since you can't request a table, we were sat on the upper level of the patio and the awning blocked a lot of our view of Illuminations. They said we could move if we wanted to but we were in the middle of eating. My BF got the bangers & mash which he said was ok and I got the fish & chips which, as PP said, I should have just gotten at the QS location. The apps we had were not good either.

I know you said Teppan is a must do but just wanted to mention that if you have a hibachi place near you, you may be disappointed in Teppan. I thought it had a very limited menu (no fried rice which is a hibachi staple) and just wasn't as nice as some of the local hibachi places I've been to. If you don't have one near you or have never been, you will get a kick out of it.

We love Tusker House breakfast! Keep that one!

I know what you mean. I read some bad reviews of CP dinner too and did end up dropping it for dinner. However, we're doing the CP breakfast because it does get great reviews, and we really enjoyed it the last time.

But because your kiddies are young, they would def enjoy the interaction with Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, etc. So maybe you should keep it??? My initial thought when I read your post was maybe to drop Rose & Crown.

I was originally thinking "drop Crystal Palace", but then I looked at the ages of your kids and I think that the 1 year old especially might enjoy seeing Pooh. Now I don't have kids, so maybe I'm completely off on this one, but Pooh just seems like the ideal character meal for the baby.

So instead, I'd drop T-Rex. That one might frighten the baby.

Another vote to drop T-Rex. I would leave that one for when the kids are a bit older and not in a stage where they scare easily.

(Hey Hoosier Mom - we're neighbors! :thumbsup2)

I'd drop one of the breakfasts. They aren't really a great value on the dining plan, and since they are all buffets with similar menus, you really won't be missing out if you just grab a quick bite at a food court or quick service spot instead.

Just nix the one that makes least sense strategically.

I'm going to go against the majority & say T-Rex is the one I definitely would not drop. It's not that I think the food is outstanding, but it's good. That's not the reason I'd say definitely keep it though. If it were me, I'd keep it for your son. Your DD will have a princess meal, I'd make sure your DS has a special meal too. T-Rex sounds like the one he would enjoy the most. Since you said you don't want to drop TE, I'd drop CP. I'm not a big buffet fan, especially for dinner. My next choice would be R & C, because you have another meal booked in Epcot WS. CM breakfast will be very convenient for you, so I'd probably keep that one. TH breakfast is our favorite character meal, so I wouldn't drop that one. We think it has the best food. Again, out of all of them, I'd keep T-Rex, if I were keep Akershus. JMO :)

Thanks for all the suggestions

We are going to drop T-Rex. We ate there a few years back and enjoyed it, but it might be a little loud (not that everywhere else isn't loud, but it's kind of a scary loud). Also, we are doing Teppan Edo at my son's request. It's his favorite place so we are going there on his birthday, after he goes on the Albatross Pirate Adventure at the Yacht Club. So he definitely isn't going to be left out.

Of course, all this could change if I don't get the times I want.

Thanks again...you guys rock!
