I got a pin code today for free dining :cool1: The dates are good for our November trip. Here is my dilemma. We already have a timeshare reserved that was courtesy of my husbands uncle. We had planned to get a 3 day base ticket and pay out of pocket for our food. There will be 4 of us, myself,DH, DS14 & DS12. We all love to eat!! When I got the pincode today I called for the heck of it to see what the price would be...its for 6 nights,a 4 day base ticket stayng at All Star Sports in a preferred room w/free dining for $1752.00!!! When we go on vacation we like to eat what we want & not have to be thrifty....I am thinking the free dining may be a better option for us. My sister in law can use the timeshare if we dont so I dont have to worry about the reservation.

What would you do?

IMO the dining plan is awesome!!! We get to eat at restaurants we normally wouldnt eat at. Last year was our first year on the dining plan and we LOVED it. We ate at le cellier and some other restaruants we normally wouldnt have because we don't like to fork out that kind of money for them. This year we have free dining in September and have already booked our dining reservations. We are trying some new places this year. We would have to be thrifty with our meals too if not for the dining plan. I think its great and worth it!!!

Thanks we have done the dining plan for the last few years, it was just never FREE!! makes it a better incentive

I got the same pin code and booked a weekend trip for DD's 10th birthday... pretty excited about going.

Our total cost was like $505! Just got 1 day tickets since we have some left over form our last trip in April 08. The hotel alone would have been about $350 so for $150 we have free dining plus 2 single day tickets for use another time!

Bumping...

The one thing that is holding me back is that the timeshare is on disney property and that its a 2 bedroom....much more space than All Stars.

If I had a 2 bedroom on property, I would do that without a doubt. I think that free dining is nice, but I love the DVC 2 bedrooms. I like space if I have the choice. My vote is for the timeshare.:thumbsup2

Could you do both? We faced a similar problem a few years ago. Our solution was to go down a few days early. I can't recall if we stayed three nights or four on the dining plan. Must have been four.

At the end of that time, the four of us had so many credits left that we took a lot of carryout to the subsequent week in our timeshare. We had leftovers for most of the week.
