I am trying to decide on a table service restaurant at Epcot. There will be 4 of us.... Me, DH, DS 10, and DD 15. We are trying to go somewhere we haven't been before, however, my DD and DS are not the most adventurous eaters. Oh, by the way, DD does NOT like seafood. Here's the choices.... for those that have been at these, PLEASE give me pointers on which one to choose.

1) Restaurant Marrakesh
2) Chefs de France
3) Teppanyaki

I vote Marrakesh!! As a meat and potatos kinda gal, this is my pick. The very adventurous can try whatever they wish, while the ones who want to say they ate foreign food (but really want American-tasting cuisine) can be happy as clams. I don't know about Japanese or Chinese (not that adventurous!), but I tried French and didn't care for it one bit.

You can get an appetizer at Marrakesh (forget what it is called) that is just ground beef rolled up in some kind of pastry. I don't like pastry generally (I eat the pie filling, but not the crust!), but this was not doughy or flaky-dry at all. The top is sprinkled with powdered sugar and a little cinnamon. Sounds kinda gross, but was pretty yummy and not foreign tasting at all.

For the non-adventurous, I recommend the Lemon Chicken. It's just chicken with a little non-spicy (or foreign-tasting) sauce. There are some olives on the plate, which I didn't eat (I can only be a wee bit adventurous), and white rice -- rice is rice.

And a belly dancer comes out every half-hour or so and does her belly dancing, clanging little cymbals on her fingers thing.

Have a fun trip and let us know what everybody thought of the food!

A place my fam loves is in Italy. L'Originale Alfredo di Roma restaurant. We have enjoyed every meal we have every had there whether it was for lunch or dinner. You will most likely need an ADR, as the wait may be awhile without the ressie. They have something for everyone. I have seen families with children of all ages enjoy their food. Their desserts are fabulous! :flower:

My vote...Teppanyaki.
I think the entire family will enjoy the food as much as the "show" especially if they have never been before and if they have been, each chef prepares in their own way.

AllyBri - I looked at Teppanyaki's menu and was a little concerned because it seemed there was a lot of seafood on it. Do you think there's enough chicken/beef type dishes there to make my daughter feel "safe"? :worried:

momrek06 - I thought about L'Originale Alfredo di Roma, but we're already scheduled for Tony's at MK (I know, probably not nearly as good!) and I didn't want Italian twice in one trip.

MouseWorshipin - Marrakesh really interests me. Did the Lemon Chicken have an olive taste? I think I recall seeing that dish served with olives. How about the Chicken appetizer - have you ever tried that and if so, how was it?

I am SUCH a creature of habit, We always go to the same restaurants, and this time we decided to spread our wings and try some new places. I didn't think I was going to have such a hard time deciding!

No olive taste, I don't think. Have to admit that I've never eaten an olive now. They aren't cut up in bits or anything, just there on the dish, kinda under the chicken. But, there wasn't any kind of odd taste to the chicken. Just regular old chicken.

Didn't have the chicken appetizer (almond allergy). Sorry.

I did have the apple crepe thing. It comes with fantastic vanilla ice cream and they drizzle honey over it. Sweetest tasting thing I ever ate!

IMHO, the food at Alfredo's beats Tony's (which isn't saying much), but the atmosphere and service at Tony's beat Alfredo's. Personally, I'd pick Olive Garden over either of them. But that's just me.

I would try the hibachi room at Tepanyaki. You can get some great steaks so seafood is not the only choice. Since there are four of you, most likely you will be sitting at the same grill with another 4 folks. If that does not bother you, I would give it a try. Great atmosphere.

My vote would be for Chefs de France. The items on the menu sound "fancy" but when you read the description of the meals alot of them are simple and very good. There are a few fish dishes on the menu but there are several beef and chicken choices.

Teppanyaki is good as well. Do you have a japanese steak house in your area? If so you may want to take your kids there for a "dry run". If they like it they will probably like Teppanyaki :sunny:

I haven't tried Marrakesh yet..hopefully on our next trip

I think you will have a great time no matter what you decide on!

Well...... my hubby and I looked at the menus again and finally decided.... Marrakesh here we come!!!!!

Actually, I don't think the decision really had anything to do with the food. Something about a dancer, some kind of "show" and costume, uh hmmmm.... guess WHO made the dinner decision! Haha! ;)

I wanted to point out, when we were on our trip this past Nov, we decided to try Marrakesh. We have a 4yo and 1.5 yr old, and I had to leave for a bit with the 1.5 yr old, cuz it was SO quiet in there, and she was not (this was at 5pm). The music and the dancer lasted for about 5 min of the hour we were there. I assumed it would have playing more. The food was ok, but I think we'll be trying something different next time.

Yes there is also chicken and beef on the menu.

I always think the little ones get such a kick out of the habachi, just watching the chef prepare the food.
