DH and I have decided to take the family (DH, myself, DS-6, and DD-4) to WDW at the end of May for 4 nights. This came up kind of suddenly because I have a doctor's appointment in Georgia and it seemed a shame to drive all that way without continuing on. ;) Anyway, I am hurriedly trying to make plans. Now I need to decide between the Swan and the Contemporary. The last two times we have stayed at the Grand Floridian and absolutely loved it.

I guess that my biggest concern is convenience. I have some health problems which will mean that I will not be able to last in the parks for long periods of time and will need to take breaks. Both of these resorts seem to be convenient so this might be a tossup.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or advice that you might have! :bounce:

Well personally I like each of these resorts, but since you have already stayed in thMK area twice I suggest you try the Swan. I just love the location and you should at least try it to compare. Either way youreally cant go wrong, but I think I do prefer Epcot area just a little more. I really like walking tot hte boardwalk and even Epcot if I want. It just seems like there is so much to do in walking distance that you'll never have to leave the area. Good Luck

I love the Contemporary! If you can walk, it's a short one to the MK. Otherwise, it's a long monorail ride. It's also a short monorail ride to the TTC to catch the monorail to Epcot. I think the Swan is nice too, but I liked the CR much better.

I think this is going to be a hard choice! Any more opinions?

First off - Good Luck at your Doctor's appt.!

I guess you have to look at which Park you'd probably be spending the most time at. My first reaction was stay at the Swan, but I love the Epcot area, so I'm prejudiced. Like NHBelle said, if you like Epcot/MGM/BW, try the Swan, since you've already stayed in MK area.....

Another one for basing it on which park you would rather visit more. I love the convinience of two parks at your finger tips. I am biased though I love the Swan and have never stayed at the CR. I love the Poly though and that would be a hard choice :)

I love the Contemporary for many reasons. You can either walk or take monorail to MK, 2 pools, great restaurants, playground, arcade and bright big rooms.

My family finds the Contemporary a very strange hotel. We always like the tropical feel when we go on vacation. We would choose the Swan over the Contemporary. Good Luck at whatever you decide!

...As we are staying at BOTH of these locales this summer. We are reserved for "life" (LOL) at the Dolphin, and for a week in a suite on the 14th floor of the CR!

Both of these locations and resorts are splendid. I prefer the Dolphin for the access via boat to the MGM & Epcot resorts, my FAVS. However, I also adore the VIEW of the MK at night from the top of the CR tower, and also enjoy the quick walk to the park (along the brick-filled walkway...our FAMILY brick is in front of the MK main entrance).

If you experience problems walking, the CR offers easily accessible monorail service to two of the major parks, as well as great bus service. Also, the restaurants and shops are much more accessible than the other resorts (or perhaps seemingly so). It all depends on which of the "theme parks" you prefer, and intend to visit the most. Both offer "stunning" room views.

Either way, enjoy your time together with your family in the warm Sunshine of Orlando. Good luck with your Dr.'s visit in Georgia, and may God Bless you & yours with good health. ;) Take care...TTFN. :sunny:

We enjoy both the Swan and the Contemporary. I think it makes a difference as to which parks you will spend the bulk of you time in. With the Swan, the bus stop is the first in line. That makes it pretty handy, IMO. I think you know that you can't make a wrong choice :) good luck!

Thank you all for your help and kind words! I think that it is coming down to the Swan's renovated rooms and the Contemporary's monorail access. Decisions, decisions! :) I definitely love the Swan's being near the Epcot area, too, but I just have no way of knowing how much I will feel up to.

Love MK!
Love Epcot!
Really love Contemporary!
Never stayed at Swan though, but love the Disney feeling at CR!

Guess you know what I would choose;)

My countdown has changed a little.
I wanted to save more money and asked the kids to choose between YC and CR, even with SAB they chose CR!
Saved over $500 more by switching from YC standard to CR garden.
