I can't decide how to finish my queen of hearts costume. I have 2 versions pinned and took pics. So do you think version 1 or 2. I can't decide, but I am leaning towards 1.

Thanks.

I think Version 1, it looks great! and remember her majesty is very fancy so she would love the extra detail!

Took me a few looks before I could see the difference. But I do like #1 better.

I like the details on the 3 hearts on #1, but I think it looks more "finished" with the hearts running down the sides on #2. #1 looks, to me, like there's something missing without the hearts going down the side.

#1
They look great!!

when i do the embroidery hearts in the middle, and the edging down the front it looks a little busy. I did the embroidery last night, and found the edging on clearance at jo-anns today, so hence the dilema.

Hold on, i'll get a pic of that.

They are both excellent. But if I had to pick, I'd go with 1 also. Great job. :thumbsup2

this one gets my vote! i think this one is definately the best.

I vote for #3 with the embroidered hearts and the edging together.

I say #3 - (I'm a costumer myself!).

busy indeed but appropriate for the Queen!

I like option #3, but it is missing a part from #1 that I liked. The Heart lacing on the sleeve puff.

I can't see it clearly in these photos -- does the dress have a two-tiered skirt, or is that a pleat formed by the edges of the front panel?

Of the two, I like #1 better, but I'm not sure that it's the very best version possible, either.

IMO, the edging all the way around the white panel of #2 makes it look for all the world like Alice's pinafore, but with hearts. It makes the costume look WAAAYYY too innocent and childlike for the Queen of Hearts. I think that if this is an adult costume, you would want to try to steer away from the pinafore impression.

That's Vandyke lace edging, and I think that it might work best in a way that you haven't tried (or at least have not shown us) -- by sewing it onto the underside of the hem (all the way around) so that it shows not against the white fabric, but against the skin.

It's a costume! MORE IS MORE! I like number 3!:thumbsup2

I thought I had posted this earlier..... I agree that the best part was the heart lacing in the puff sleeve. You need to incorporate that in the design.

Also, I agree that it really looks like Alice's pinafore and you should try to steer it away from looking like that.

yup, i went ahead and put the lace on the puffy sleeve.

Someone asked if it was 2 layers. Sort of, the center is white, but it has the red behind it, because it was slightly see-thru.

I also went ahead and put red ribbon around the neck line. I couldn't put my finger on what was missing, and that was part of it.

When i get a chance later, i'll get another picture up.

I like #3!
I just finished my Queen of Hearts costume this weekend, too! I hope you are not going to MNSSHP on October 15 or 18, because you will show me up by a mile! Great job! BTW, several of on-line costume sites have a fun QoH crown for only $12.99.
