We want to eat at Goofy's Kitchen while on our DL trip. Our options are: arrival night (no parks that day) for dinner or departure for San Diego morning for breakfast. It'll be me (picky eater), dh and three year old ds. We should be able to make reservations soon, and I need to know what to tell my travel agent.

I'd go for dinner on the first night since you aren't going to the parks. That way you can enjoy a few hours in the park on the day you leave!

We have three full days in the parks and the next day we will head to San Diego. We plan to leave for San Diego in the morning, no parks on that day.

I voted for dinner. For a couple of reasons, one being I think the dinner at Goofy's is really good. I am not a big breakfast eater and I also think Goofy's has a HUGE selection of food at dinner (but breakfast is also very good with a nice selection). But my main reason is that I just don't ever like to do a character meal on my departure day. We did that once or twice and I just remember being sort of depressed watching all the happy people who were heading to the parks vs. our trip being done! But again, thats just me and my nutty family who are never ready to leave! Leaving is a somber occasion and we generally just leave and get it over with! I think nothing gets you into the Disney mood quite like a character meal. We love either doing Goofy's or the Rainforest Cafe our arrival night to just sort of kick the trip off.

In the end you cannot go wrong with either, both meals are fun and very good. Have a great trip to Disneyland!

I just voted for breakfast at Goofy's. I don't know how well your three year old travels and if they will have a nap so dinner might be pushing it after a long day. :confused3 What a great last memory - breakfast with the characters. We are planning a girls only trip this June and we are having lunch with the Disney princesses at Ariel's Grotto on our last day before we leave for San Diego/Carlsbad. Hope you're going to Legoland - almost as good as Disney.

Yep, I agree with Amy. I like to use a character meal to rev up for my DL experience. As for leaving, well, it's best just to rip the bandaid off and hightail it outta there. . .

I voted breakfast departure day! That's EXACTLY what we will be doing in 60 days! I just made our reservation before reading this thread, lol! We think it will be a nice send-off on our last day and hopefully see some characters we might have missed in the parks.

I voted for arrival night dinner. It's a great way to start off the trip and we prefer goofy's for dinner rather than breakfast.

It's so hard to decide! We did Goofy's Kitchen on our departure day last summer. It was a nice way to end our trip, and we had a long drive ahead of us. I suppose it depends on if you are planning on getting a lot done in Sand Diego that day or not.

It also depends on what time you are arriving that day, and if you will have a lot of non-park time to fill. I think kicking off the trip with a great character meal is wonderful, too.

For those of you that has done dinner at Goofy's, can you tell me what kind of foods they offer? We've always done Breakfast, but I might want to do dinner this time myself.

We usually do Rainforest Cafe the night we arrive, and then we have done a breakfast once the day we left. Usually were gone by 5 am to beat traffic on 5, so the only breakfast we get is McDonalds on the road. It was kind of sad, like Amy was saying. All the families eating and heading on in to the park, and we were all done. So now we've been having a Character Breakfast at Goofy's the day BEFORE we leave. So that way we still get to go to the parks that day. But I am really curious about eating dinner there.

Another option for the night you get there is to add on an extra day to your tickets, it isn't much more to add on one day. That's what we do. We drive down, arrive around 2 and hit the park by 3pm.

We've been to Goofy's for dinner twice and honestly I havne't been all that impressed. The first time I was very sick all night and the second time I just didn't think the quality was there.
