Help me decide--Lucky Nugget Saloon?

This will be our first visit to Paris, and we will only have one day at the parks. We will be there on a Friday (June 8). We have been to WDW many times and always enjoy the character meals (our favorite is Crystal Palace). Having only one day, though, I'm wondering whether a character meal is a good use of time. Is the food good? Is the character interaction good? Will we spend a long time waiting for the characters? Which characters are usually there?

Any advice welcome!

With only 1 day in the park I'd resist the temptation for the Lucky Nugget Saloon buffet, as fabulous as it is and spend as much time as possible in the park, the park is closing at 7.00pm on the day you're there - I'd book a character meal in the evening at Inventions in the DLRP hotel or at Cafe Mickey in the village.

Haven't been to Inventions myself, but can vouch for Cafe Mickey - lots of character interaction, fabulous cast members and we really enjoyed our meals there too.

When we're on a tight schedule I can't bear to waste time in restaurants.

Not a character meal but a thoroughly good evening can be had at the Buffalo Bill Dinner Show in the village. Food's not cordon bleu but the atmosphere's incredible.

I'm with Jill on this one ~ just grab a quick snack at lunchtime and book a character meal in the evening for after the park has closed. As you enjoy Crystal Palace (I love it there too ) you will probably prefer Inventions which is also a buffet meal and lovely surroundings ~ oh and delicious food!

DLRP doesn't have set characters for restaurants although Mickey can usually be found at Cafe Mickey ~ they normally come out four at a time so during the course of a meal you will probably meet seven or eight different characters!

That's a good point about the park closing early. I just assumed the hours in paris would be similar to the hours in Orlando--I guess not! I wonder what the latest seating we could get at the Lucky Nugget would be? I'll have to think about Cafe Mickey--it sounds like a meal there takes about 2 hours, which if we started at 7:00 would mean ending at 9:00. We are not staying in a DLP hotel so we would then need to get the RER back to Paris.

The LN is a 'not to be missed' experience. the surroundings, character interaction and food are all excellent

To make the most of the lovely choices of food and its ambience you would need about 2 hours so based on your time schedule, Im sorry to say that I have to agree with the others about giving it a miss.

Out of your other 2 options I would opt for CM although I found the fadult ood choices limited (and pretty uninspiring) by comparison to other restaurants in the same price bracket. The surroundings and frequency of the characters was good though and children will be more than happy with their food options.

Try to book a seat upstairs by the window overlooking the lake - its beautiful at night

Our kids were quite disappointed with LN, barring the stage show, and thought that the character dinner at Cafe Mickey was far, far more enjoyable. So on balance I wouldn't hesitate to commend the concensus that you book a meal in the Village after the park closes.

I know how you feel as we did not have good experience at Inventions yet many here had very positive experiences

I suppose we all have different experiences based on our mood on the day the Cm's who serve us, how well the chef cooked the food and the price !!

Its worsened by the fact these places are not cheap to eat in and if you have a bad meal or whatever it feels worse because you have paid a decent price and your expectation levels were not met.

Its great that there are so many options at DLPR
