Help me decide if I can ride the roller coasters...

I can ride all of the roller coasters at Disney World (and other parks) and Disneyland/CA Adventure (except Tower of Terror). However, I saw Hulk at Universal and flat out refused to do it. It wouldn't be so bad, but dh won't ride the roller coasters and neither will dd. So, ds ends up not going on the roller coasters he wants to ride. :(

We are a bit of a mess...dh can't do any of the motion simulator rides *or* roller coasters due to motion sickness (even with prescription meds). I can't do roller coasters like Hulk, high drop rides (like Terror), the ones that slowly swing you like a pendulum, or the claustrophobic type ones like Mission and Simpsons. My dd is afraid of the bigger coasters.

Last time we were at Universal, by the time we got off the Dragon Challenge (our 2nd ride of the day), dh was throwing up, dd was crying (her seat belt got stuck and she thought she wouldn't be able to get off) and ds had gotten food poisoning the night before and was recovering from throwing up all night. We joked it was the best $1k we ever spent.

My dh is a good sport and still enjoys the parks, my dd will do the smaller rides and I try to support ds within my limits.

So, that was a really long way to ask...Would it be worth it to go to Busch Gardens Tampa and/or SeaWorld? Or, should we just stick with DW? We all like animals. However, we will be coming a cruise and one of our stops is at a place where we will be swimming with sea lions (Chankanaab) another will involve petting sting rays (sting ray city).

Any advise??

Sounds like any theme park would be a house of horrors for your family. Universal does have a couple of rides that are "wilder" rides than Disney, but only Hulk, Rip Roaring Rocket and the Dragon Challenge -- now part of the Harry Potter area.

Seems to me you would be better off going to SeaWorld and watching the shows. They have several shows and they don't involve anything other than sitting in your seat. The only risk would be getting splashed..

Maybe you misunderstood?

I like most rides...to a point. For me, I don't like rides as big as the Hulk. However, I enjoy CA Screamin', Rock n Roller Coaster, Everest, etc... My son loves *all* the rides. I am trying to figure out if the rides at Busch Gardens and Sea World would be primarily in the "Hulk" category or the "Everest" category.

Sea World coasters are more in the Hulk, Dueling Dragon category. But there are few rides there, mostly animal viewing. It's okay ... but to us other than the coasters the park is more for young children.

Busch .... we went specifically for all the Coasters, many Hulk style. And the animals are not fish like more safari like. It's a pretty park, similar to an Animal Kingdom type park. It's not one I'd probably go to on a regular basis or out of my way but if your cruise is coming back in at Tampa and you are right there. I think you should check out some videos to determine how they feel to you.

Thanks, Hopper, that was helpful! Our cruise is actually coming from Miami...so, I think maybe we'll save Tampa for another time. That way, we don't spend so much extra money and have to drive more...

Busch Gardens has good Coasters BUT ALSO ..... Has a children's funfair area, ( And for Adults like the 360 degree swing boat )

Plenty of indoor / outdoor shows, Aerial transport around most of park , A safari park

AND 2 splash areas where you will get wet. & much more

Give it a go.

My advice for anyone young or old Look Study Think & THEN decide if the ride is for YOU

There is NO shame if YOU decide it is not for YOU.
