OK HERE IT GOES:
FLIGHT 600.00 AVERAGE FOR 3 ....
CAR 300.00 FOR WK
900.00 TOTAL SO FAR!

OR DO WE DRIVE 833 MILES WHICH IM GUESSING IS ABOUT 16-18 HOURS ; STOP IN ATLANTA HALF WAY ( HOTEL MAYBE 100.00)
GAS : ( MU HUSBAND SAYS 100.00 TOTAL IN GAS)
AND THEN ANOTHER 100.00 HOTEL STAY ON WAY HOME.

WE ARE DRIVING FROM DAYTON OHIO....
THATS ONLY 300.00.....THE EXTRA MONEY WE COULD SPEND IN FLORIDA! OR EVEN STAY AT HARD ROCK INSTEAD OF HIFS.
BUT 18 HOURS DRIVE! YUK :(
I AM SO UNDECIDED! ANY SUGGESTIONS?????
ITS JUST ME ,MY HUSBAND AND 9 YR OLD DAUGHTER.

THANKS FOR LISTENING!

Hi,
Our countdowns are just about the same, and we're doing our figures, too, lol!

We drove the 19 hours this past Feb., and even with a 7yr. old, and a 9month baby, I can't say that the drive was all that bad(I did all the driving, too). But, I do remember 2.5 hours into the drive, thinking that we could've been touching down in Florida rather than driving through Wash. DC...

Anyway, we're thinking of just biting the bullet and flying next year. I also consider wear and tear on our car when comparing the two.

I'm also hoping to get a car for around $200, but not having much luck now, thinking that it's too far in advance for the codes to be effective.

Good Luck!

THANKS MARK.P...
I'M GLAD I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THINKING THROUGHT ALL THIS!
ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY.......

LISALISA36,

If you can afford to fly, that is the only way to go. If you drive, you will be wasting 3-4 days of your vacation in a car. It is a lot less stressfull sitting in an airport reading and relaxing then fighting rush hour traffic jams;) . We go to Florida at least 2 times a yr and always fly. We usually get a rental through National for around $180 for the week.
Glad to help out a fellow" buckeye";)

P.S. If you get a direct flight you will be in Florida in "2 HOURS"!!

I checked things on Mapquest between Dayton and Orlando. Depending on how much you wanted to drive on the first day, you could get farther than Atlanta, possibly south of Macon.

Dayton to Orlando -- 954 miles in @ 16 hours
Dayton to Marietta GA (north Atlanta burbs) -- 496 miles in @8.5 hours
Dayton to Macon GA -- 597 miles in @10 hours
Dayton to Valdosta GA -- 742 miles in @ 12.5 hours

These distances and times are approximate. I just typed in the city and states instead of specific addresses, but this should give you an idea. Also, I tend to make better driving time than what Mapquest says.

Not only that, but hotels in Macon and Valdosta are bound to be cheaper than hotels in Atlanta. You could leave early, stay the night in Valdosta, leave early the next morning, and have lunch at Planet Hollywood. :)

Of course, you have PLENTY of time. You could end up finding a great air fare deal that's too good to pass up. DW and I are flying USAirways from RIC (where regular fares are $$$$$$$) to MCO for $200 round trip for both of us.
