Help me decide about my hair

I  that cut too!

Fabulous! And stunning on thin hair!~

That's the one that I don't like. :rotfl: Different strokes, I guess. :)

Question for all you that have fine/thin hair. What's your A-#1, can't live without hair product? I had all but given up trying to find something that actually worked for me.

Truthfully, the easiest and most manageable style I've ever had was the buzz cut I got before the chemo and then the last couple of months as it's grown in. Maybe I should just get it shaved again? Or go back to wearing wigs? But dang those things were HOT. I'd be dripping sweat even in the dead of winter.

I love, love, LOVE Jonathan's Dirt Texturizing Paste. I used it alot when I had shorter hair.

How long is your hair now? Did it grow back the same as it was before? I know a lot of people that have different hair after chemo. One friend had stick straight hair before her chemo and now has poodle curly hair.

This is almost exactly how my hair looks right now

I had heard the texture might change but alas, I don't think it did much. Possibly a tad thicker but that's it and that's not saying much  It is growing a lot faster than it did before though. Ugh, I have always hated my hair. Now is as good a time as any to try something new and different.

That's my favorite of the cuts shown. How about have a highlight and shaping/trim, based on what your stylist thinks? Do you have a good stylist who will suggest different things based on what will work for you?

.

Sebastian Molding Mud is fabulous.

As if TiGi's...what the heck is is called...let me go look for it...Tigi's Small Talk: http://www.tigihaircare.com/us/products/

Molding Mud gives much more texture than Small Talk - so it depends on which look (or cut) you get, or what look youre going for.

I love all the advice you are being given - but the best part are the pictures that were provided! You guys are so great that I'm almost considering going short!

But really, I think the coloring with the red/blonde is really beautiful and I would tell you - heck, with all that you've been through treat yourself to something fun. It's only hair and if you absolutely HATE it, it can be fixed. Go for it and take pictures!

Shoot, my "stylist" is usually whoever has an open chair at Fantastic Sam's! I don't think I ever had anyone who didn't respond with a shrug whenever I asked for suggestions! I don't even know where to start to find a style for my face shape or a good color for my skin tone. BC (before chemo) I colored my hair every few months with a light auburn that looked pretty good. I will NOT go to a $15 haircut place for the highlight/lowlight thing I want though. It's so hard to find a good stylist. Expensive doesn't necessarily mean good. I'd love to go just once to one of those beautician to the stars like the guy on What Not To Wear who can really help you look your best.

We moved about 8 hours away from our childhood home about a year ago and I faced that challenge: where do I get me hair colored and cut? So I was stuck and came up with a good idea (well, I think its a good idea). Find somebody that you like their hair, complement them and then ask where they got it done. It doesn't have to be the same style you want, just a quality job. Then go to that place and when I did it, the results were great! And I used to be a "sit in any open seat and the first available cutter will be with you".

And I know what you mean about What Not to Wear -- can we all rent Nick Arojo for a day???

That's a great idea! Shugardrawers, you deserve a good cut/color! Go for it! There might even be some DISers in your area who could suggest a stylist.

I just wanted to say congratulations on getting your hair back! :thumbsup2 I agree you should go for a nice, fun cut and color. You definitely need to find a good stylist. Ask around, you'll find one.

I was lucky, I have thick hair to begin with. After chemo, initially it was curly, and now it's got a beautiful wave to it - the same look I used to pay a lot of $$ with for perms (I guess there's got to be some benefit to losing it, right? :teeth: ). I keep it fairly short, and have been going to my stylist for many years so I just give her some idea of what I want and she knows what to do. I also don't have to color yet (knock on wood) but once in a while I get highlights for fun.

I also think a really good shampoo is important. I used to buy it at the salon, but that got a bit pricey. For several years I've been using The Body Shop line of hair products, they're excellent. I currently use the Olive Glossing shampoo and conditioner. I also use a bit of mousse and a drop of Curl gel, dry my hair upside down with a diffuser and my fingers (no brush), and I'm good to go.

Best of luck! Hope to see updates here soon! :goodvibes

Tammy - Lauri said you can have some of her hair. She's got enough for 3 people and it's already red. :rotfl2:

Well, I was eyeing her full thick mane of hair quite enviously last week ;) I would definitely trade her

She actually lost close to half her hair the year she took that chemo drug orally to kill her immune system. It never really came back in the way it was. You should see a picture of how much hair she had prior to getting sick. She'd kill me if I posted a picture of her because the late 80's early 90's big hair had NOTHIN' on her! :rotfl2:
