We've been trying to make this decision for a couple of days now and don't seem to be getting anywhere, so HELP!

We are currently booked at a 2 br villa at OKW. There were 5 adults in our party, but 1 is not going to be able to go. We could move down to a 1 br villa but we just can't make up our minds whether we should or not.

The details....4 adults...Mom, Sister, Sister & Fiance'.

The negatives to switching to 1br...
#1) If I'm right, there is a king or queen bed in the bedroom and a sleeper sofa in the living room, correct? If so, that presents a bit of a sleeping arrangement problem. The fiance' would have to sleep on the floor.
2) One bathroom

The positives
1) $700 less for 5 nights!

We did check and there was a 1 br available. They would also let us use the comeback rate we currently have, so that didn't solve the dilemma!

We just bounce back and forth and can't come to a decision. On one hand, it seems so wasteful to spend $700 on much more room than we really need. Then again, even a 1 br isn't cheap and do we want to spend that kind of money and have people sleeping on the floor and on sleeper sofas??? Are they really comfortable?

As far as the money goes, of course it would be nice to save $700, but since we already planned on spending that amount, it's not a matter of not being able to afford it, it's a matter of is it worth it or is it a waste?

I'd appreciate opinons on what others would do and any negatives or positives I might be overlooking either way!

There is a king bed in the master bedroom and a queen sleeper in the living room. You could bring an aero bed for the fiance'. If you get the 1 bedroom, I would request building 30 or above since those rooms have a second entrance into the master bathroom through the laundry room. Otherwise, those sleeping in the living room have to go through the master bedroom to get to the bathroom.

I'd opt for the 2 BDRM for the sake of 2 baths and better sleeping arrangements. That sleep sofa gets uncomfortable after a few nights!;)

Rather than looking at it as spending $700 more, why not look at it as getting an additional studio at OKW for $700 for 5 nights. $140/night for a studio is a great rate.

The two bedroom at OKW usually consists of a combination of a 1bdrm and studio. For your party, requesting a 2 bdrm lock-off would probably be good for the extra coffee pot and separate entrance.

Another alternative is to just get two studios, but then I think you lose a lot with not having the amenities of the one bedroom.

good luck with your decision!

Have you checked out renting points for OKW?? THE Disney Vacation Clubbers have their own board and you can rent points for OKW that usually come out cheaper- www.mousesavers.com gives a good explanation of how it works.

All that said, I would opt for the 2 BR- it's very spacious and it's nice to have two separate bathrooms- also kitchen/eating area is very nicely sized.

Hope it works for you!!

Unless the $700 is a really big deal, keep the 2 bedroom. I can't tell you how wonderful it is to have the living room/kitchen area free for those who may want to stay up a little later or get up to watch the sunrise. No worries about disturbing anyone or having to walk through "their bedroom" to get to the balcony/make a cup of coffee. (Sipping a cup of coffee early in the morning on the balcony is truly heavenly). Also, you'll have two bathrooms - with 3 adult women and 1 adult man, I can't help but think how much that will be appreciated.

You'll find a king-sized bed in the master bedroom and two queens in the second bedroom (and so as mentioned, you shouldn't have to use the sleeper sofa in the living room). I'd take a real bed over an aero bed or a sleeper sofa anyday!

Yes, it's a bit of a splurge, but I think the privacy alone will be worth it. My sister also has a fiance and we all love him dearly, but I would be uncomfortable sharing a 1 bedroom hotel room with them (or any other couple, for that matter).

Whatever you decide, have a wonderful trip!

I vote for the 2 bdrm.
It is so nice to have the living room area to sit and relax. That way if someone wants to go to bed they can and there is no one sleeping there to disturb in the morning. We are dvc members and a family of 4. We always try to get a 2 bdrm if possible. My kids have slept on the sleeper sofa in a one bedroom, but we always bring along an Areo matress also so they don't have to share. There is plenty of room for it.
$700 could buy you a few nice meals. You just have to decide if its worth it or not.

I'd also vote for the 2bdrm villa!

Between having 2 bathrooms and the privacy issue (which is obviously your dilema) it seems worth it to spend the extra $$. You planned on spending it in the first place anyway. But the biggest reason to me would be that no one should have to spend such a wonderful vacation sleeping on the floor. An aerobed is a nice option when your talking about for kids, but for an adult it doesn't sound as inviting (just my opionion though:rolleyes: ). Unless of course you really feel like you were spending extra $$ you truely can't afford - but it doesn't sound that way from what you've posted.

So splurge a little and be comfortable and enjoy. I don't think you'll regret it;)

I like the way you think!;) When you look at it that way, it seems a shame to pass by the bargain!;)

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I hadn't thought about what it would be like having to deal with folding out the sleeper and the room that would take up. Besides, my sister's fiance' is always the last one up. We've taken him on trips before and he never wants to get up early. He's learned that he can sleep in and still be up and dressed before any of us are! Having to step over him in the mornings heading out for that glorious morning coffee on the balcony doesn't sound too fun.

Besides, this is his first trip to WDW and she really wants to "wow" him. So, I think we will stick with the 2 br after all.

Thanks again to everyone, it's such a relief not to have to think about it anymore!
