I can upgrade our 7 night stay from Pop to POR garden view for $200. We have stayed at Pop but not POR. I said food court looks good, queen beds, bigger room, boat to DTD etc. DH say he likes the bus system at Pop and that it doesn't have a zillion stops and doesn't share resorts. Help me convince him to change!

POR has a TS restaurant, pool with a slide, you can also go to the POFQ pool. The boat ride to DTD is so relaxing, much nicer than taking the bus to DTD. The bus stops are covered. The grounds at POR are beautiful.

We have stayed at POP and POR, loved both and would stay at either one again. :goodvibes

Riverside has a sit down restaurant, lounge with live entertainment, Bob's show is so much fun and kid friendly, CS is good, make your own salads and pasta, great pool w/slide, pool bar is covered, hot tub, boat to DTD, fire pit, bigger rooms, beautiful grounds. You can take a horse drawn carriage ride. I could go on.......You get that I love it! Busses are good. The stops don't really bother us. IMO it is a more grown up place, although there will be lots of kids!

Do they share the bus with POFQ? We will be there 3/30-4/6. DH really liked that Pop had their own bus and didn't haves ton of stops. That's pretty much the only thing holding him back.
Are the garden rooms far away?

Yes, POR shares with POFQ, picks up FQ first then Riverside and all it's stops,.... Usually full by then

We don't care for the huge layout of Riverside, FQ us more compact, easy to get around and the entertainer at the Scat Cat Club is fantastic, prefer him over Riverside... To each their own but we prefer the compactness of the FQ .

We have been huge pop fans for years, but we stayed at POR and are hooked!! ESP for $200, it's much nicer! The resort itself is very relaxing- the landscaping and scenery is absolutely amazing! While I love all the cutesy oversized things at pop, POR has a much more relaxed, resorty, vacationy vibe. The rooms themselves aren't much different, but they are a little larger, and the colors aren't as...loud I guess? The food court is much better than pops- much more selection, much friendlier staff, and much better tasting! Boatwrights is a nice option when you're tired from a day at the park but want something more than the food court- their food is awesome! The river roost lounge is always hopping, and yeeha bob puts on a great show.
At the marina, you can rent bikes or watercraft, or take a boat ride down to Dtd. They also offer horse carriage rides around the resort. Another option is to go fishing at their fishing hole!
The pool is one of best themed I've seen, definitely blows pops out of the water. There are also quiet pools all around the resort that are very nice as well!
We stayed in a standard view room, and even tho we could see the parking lot, we were also able to see the beautiful grounds. POR is one of the few(if not only?) resorts that still accept and frequently honor special request faxes. We requested a 2nd floor room in building 17, and were very excited to see exactly that.
In regards to the buses, they do work a little differently than pop, but not necessarily in a bad way. There are 4 stops at riverside itself, and one at FQ. The mk route does not go to FQ. During our stay, we had no problems with the bus service. As a general rule, we found them to be far less crowded than pop, except at closing time, which can't be avoided. I prefer the buses at POR, but I definitely see your husbands point about 1 stop- however, I think all the other advantages highly outweigh that one possible disadvantage.

Not every trip do they share with POFQ. I haven't stayed at POR, but at POFQ. Each time we only shared buses with POR once each trip.

Sorry - have to side with your husband on this one. One of the reasons I won't stay at a moderate again. If your bus stop is one of the first, you have to make multiple stops before you pull out of your resort. If your stop is one of the last, you could be packed into a crowded bus.

Riverside can share with Port Orleans as well.

While people complain about Pop Century and the unshaded bus lines, we've never waited more than the full twenty minutes (and I think that was twice in about ten trips) for another bus to come along.

If he has to deal with buses every day, he's not going to have a good time.

Does POP share with Art of Animation?

For 200.00, I can't imagine not staying at a hotel you haven't tried before and getting to update to a moderate. I think it's a definite must!

For $200 absolutely switch! The grounds are just gorgeous, the boatride to DTD, the beignets at POFQ (don't know if I spelled that right but they are super yummy!). The food selection at the counter service in POR is supposed to be really awesome too. Horse drawn carriage rides in the evening. I'm in love with the pics of the Mansion rooms.

I've stayed at POFQ and we did share a bus with POR, but from reading here it isn't 100% of the time anymore. I also have read that the early morning buses South Depot picks up and does not go to the other 3 so you can request a room closer to the South Depot to not have to share a bus all the time.

Oh and it was very recently refurbished. Don't know if he cares, but I care about that sort of thing.

I'd switch to POR. $200 over 7 days is not too much, but that depends on your budget of course. We never had a problem with the buses at POR. I don't think we ever even stopped at FQ. Maybe it depends on the season if they share or not? We were there in March last year.

Bigger room, queen size beds, two sinks, boat to DTD. Food court is good. Table service restaurant. Entertainment in the lounge. Grounds are beautiful. MOds are generally more quiet than values. The pool has a slide and hot tub. There are quiet pools to use if the main pool is busy.

We stay at POFQ and the last couple of trips we only shared buses with POR in the afternoon or evening. The boat to DTD is great. We have dinner there if we don't have an ADR in a park or resort. The walk to POFQ isn't long so you can use the pool:beach: there if you want a change. Plus it gives you another food court to use. There is entertainment in both of the lounges 4 or 5 nights a week. Both are family friendly. For only $200 over 7 nights it is worth it IMO.

Are you getting a free dining promotion? Because, if so, you would be automatically bumped from quick service to regular, which also saves. :thumbsup2

Either way, oh, I would so switch. We love POR. Plus, there is FQ you can walk to and swim and eat at. The river is gorgeous. The grounds are gorgeous and the bus to DTD is one of our favorite things to do, especially on nights the parks close early. Love it! If have already done POP, it's a great opportunity to try a moderate. When we were there in Sept/Oct, the buses were great.

The beauty of the resort alone out weighs the bus issue hands down. If you could switch to POFQ for that same amount I would pick POFQ though over POR. First bus stop and if it fills it doesn't stop at POR.
